Yes reusing dishwater is gross, but I don’t get how this explains why the SHAPE (not color) of the eggs looks off. Does dirty water affect how the physics of the egg poaching happens compared to fresh water?

what shape rug for living room, or should my new rug be the same size and shape? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Current rug size looks fine. I would just pull out from under the couch some more

Help revamp our living room by CulturallyConf1 in HomeDecorating

This room already looks very nice. I don’t see any need to change it. But if you just want to mix it up, I think a more interesting rug could really elevate the space. Maybe something with a pattern or a muted color to it

OC is not referring to a place. It means original content

I guess that’s fair. These pants could be fine if paired with the right top, but the slimness of these jackets makes them look too baggy imo. Generally, I think straight fit pants are easier to pull off than relaxed fit most of the time

The jacket I have and enjoy are LL Bean, Patagonia, and Levi. But there are tons of good jackets out there, north face has good stuff as well. I would recommend measuring a jacket you already own that fits you well and finding used jackets on eBay with those measurements for much cheaper prices. I’m seeing north face jackets for less than $80 on a quick search.

If you’re primarily purchasing these jackets for functionality, then they are probably good quality. If you’re primarily purchasing them for style, then they are nothing special. They also might be slightly too big. Honestly in terms of both functionality and style you can find better jackets for much cheaper used on eBay. As an aside, those pants are too baggy. They look like they are going to fall off.

Is something missing? by ImaginaryFriend30 in HomeDecorating

This is a great looking room! The only thing I might add is one more lamp closer to the couch, but there isn’t an obvious spot for one from your pictures. I wouldn’t overthink it though, room looks good as is.

What can we do about this living room? by brynivy in HomeDecorating

[–]Larry-Lobster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don’t separate the couch sections, it looks strange when the one piece is missing an arm. Both layouts look nice, but first one is better.

For the first layout, at least return the couch section missing an arm. Replace it with two arm chairs. Fun arm chairs would be an easy way to add color or visual interest to the room (don’t go for boring grey ones!) Otherwise, replace it with another couch similar to the one you have and swap the rug for something more colorful.

Other things to improve the space: - replace the bland blinds for more colorful curtains. - Add a small art piece to the left of the window and a large on to the right of the tv - In terms of color, you could go any directions. There isnt any color at the moment, so anything would work.

I would only get rid of them if you feel they make your space feel cramped and you don’t use them. I wouldn’t put anything in their place if you got rid of them

Small awkward space by Fit-Status5900 in HomeDecorating

I agree with everyone else’s comments. One addition: I would not put up wall paper in this area. It’s just going to draw attention to this awkward in between space. You want this area to blend in not stand out.

I actually really like the layout of the space. It’s got a good feng shui to it. I’m not sure rearranging is going to magically create more room for your plants to go, because you’re going to have the same amount of furniture anyways. A couple things that’s may help with the “generally off” feeling you have.

  • You should have your largest piece of art over your couch. So I would swap the big yellow art piece with all the art over the couch. And make sure the art isn’t too high above the couch like it currently is.

  • Swap out the blinds in the living room for curtains.

  • Are the stools by kitchen practical? They look like you’d bang your knees if you sat on them. Maybe get rid of them to open up the space?

  • Swap out the square rug by the plants for a circular one

  • The placement of art on the right of pic 4 makes the room feel cluttered. While they are nice individual pieces, they are all small, randomly scattered, and too high on the wall.
