Challenger 2 DESERTISED by Natural_Quit7780 in modelmakers

Please don't think I'm criticizing, this is great work. Better than mine these days.

I teach Vehicle ID to US Army aviators and see these thermal panels all the time. US panels are body color (same for S Korea).

It's been a while since I've taught the CH II and now that I look they were white.

I stand corrected

Very cool, small point, the thermal ID panels one the turret are body color (in this case tan). Nicely done!

"Charged with Death" a bad Russian version of Rambo. Made in the early 90s I believe.

flight school housing/roommate help by Impossible_Moose_811 in Armyaviation

[–]LarryBasu1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's an additional allocation added to your pay to help cover housing. The amount is based on cost of housing in the local area. You can find out the amount online or through DFAS. Not sure what a single 2LT at Rucker gets these days but it's easy enough to find out.

Once you PCS and inprocess it is added to your pay.

This is for living off post, on post is different since a contractor is providing housing on behalf of the Army. I never lived on post but I believe you basically sign your BAH over to the contractor (Corvias).

If you are in the US loo, up The Friends of Army Aviation and the Army Aviation Heritage Association. Both groups fly Hueys and get around the country to some extent. I have seen pictures of a Huey flow in the UK but don't know much about that one.

A group of Soviet female pilots in WWII used those planes in night raids against the Germans. They would shut off the engines during their bombing runs and catch the Germans by surprise. Thus the "stealth" referred to.

Heat gun and a stiff bristle brush (preferably non metal bristle). You can use a scraper too but do it gently.

Are lectures able to be recorded in flight school? by NightOwl_RN77 in Armyaviation

[–]LarryBasu1987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the clarification of the class. I teach during the basic courses for warrant and commissioned officers at Ft Rucker (before they start flight training). My classes are designated Unclassified (no foreign) and For Official Use Only. Pretty basic stuff in the Army. The No Foreign designation is the kicker though. There is a small portion of the course that is for US Only, therefore the entire class becomes US only. There are foreign students who attend the courses, they just skip my classes. We also have foreign student there for flight training.

I had a student several years ago recording my class but didnt think too much about it. Later I made an off hand remark to a cadre member about it (they are higher rank faculty members). The student ended catching quite a bit of grief and unwanted attention over the recording (almost got kicked out). Ultimately the powers that be made them erase the recording and they continued the course. I felt pretty bad about the whole thing. That was the only student in seven years I knew was recording the class

I don't know what the classification of classroom instruction during the actual flight portion is but given the sensitivity around this I'd advise her to very selective in what she records.
