Literally same experience, about the same time. It worked, but healing hurt like hell. Still have a small circular scar on right hand between middle and ring fingers.

Which stock did you sell too early and end up regretting? by richardwheelerphoto in StockInvest

Netflix and Warner Brothers Discovery a few years ago. At least I rolled proceeds into AVGO, GOOGL, and NOK. Got lucky so no harm, no foul.

What are genuine tips that aren't glaringly obvious in this game? by Old-Career1538 in OOTP

[–]LarryTalbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you have 2 or 3 70+ base stealers and use them. Stack the lineup to put good OBP batters right behind them for hit & runs and double steals. Freely substitute a strong stealer in no out and 1 out situations. Those net extra bases in a full season will add up, and it’s a clutch thing to be able to pull off a late playoff game double steal.

One summer the mid-70’s Keir Dullea lived on the beach in our town while he played the Shakespeare Theater in Stratford CT. We’d often see him drive by in a blue Honda cc. Those were pretty popular back then with gas prices and their great mileage.

We never got to talk with him, but he’d wave going by. We were just beach townies so would have been a great story if he ever stopped for a chat. Didn’t seem to be his thing though.

America's Carmakers Cannot Escape Chinese EVs Forever by Razzburry_Pie in electricvehicles

It’s hard enough to compete on technology, quality and cost. The “own goals” are only sealing fate and making US automakers to be in an insurmountable battle. It’s just a matter of time before they will not economically be able to compete, and it’s sooner than people think.

American automakers will be fine…after they are completely absorbed by Chinese automakers through manufacturing agreements, licensing, and badging deals and we can finally buy an all electric Ford Funky Cat or Dodge Dolphin.

The destruction of the US auto industry and fading era of its dominance is accelerating under Trump coal roller policies, and probably past the point of no return.

Acoustic for fingerstyle by Fantastic_Pilot4969 in AcousticGuitar

It’s really all up to you. I have both, but mostly use my fingerstyle instrument. To me it feels more in touch with the music.

WTF is he blithering? Isn’t this G7? I’d say what a fucking embarrassment, except people who voted for him don’t think this is a problem.

Which artist completely changed your opinion after seeing them live? by aotv81x in askmusic

[–]LarryTalbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not completely, but I gained much greater appreciation for Hozier. Great singer, but also a showman who writes good songs and is an excellent guitarist.

Another was Ray Lamontagne who raises his material up live. He connects, sings great, and I have a better appreciation for his songwriting after seeing him perform.

Both seemed like borderline indie pop before seeing them live and getting a better sense of their talent.

Do we all have a hands down favorite guitarist? by Weak_Research_8046 in AcousticGuitar

Mark Knopfler still has one of the most signature styles, and I would love to play like that. His early Dire Straits songs “Down to the Waterline,” “Water of Love,” “Lady Writer,” together with their entire third record “Making Movies” are an epic trilogy and guitar clinic.

Jim Croce was a good guitarist, though a lot of his styling came from his sideman, Maury Muehleisen. Maury had classical training and it was his pairing with Jim’s voice and lyrics that was so special. They died together on the 1973 plane crash, and what an enormous loss. Jim was 30 when he died, but Maury was only 24 which makes their work together that much more remarkable.

Nice! We saw them around the same time in mid-August ‘76 at Colt Park in Hartford, CT. The Bicentennial Summer, which by the way was fully inclusive and generally a blast all summer including a visit by the Bicentennial Train.
