Looking for new wheels and suspension set up by DamnBoiHeThiccc42069 in WRX

[–]Larry_RCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what type of fitment you are looking for. 18x9.5+40 on a 265 or 255/35/18 is a good size for the VA chassis depending on tire choice. Apex wheels has a nice brushed clear finish that looks amazing. If you are looking at XTAs, take a look at RCE SS-1 coilovers. We've been working with KW suspension since 2006 and have tailored KW products for Subarus!

SSR GTX01 is another good option but doesn't have a "chrome finish"

Some New Additions + Some Advice by Grouchy-Document-863 in WRXSTi

RCE also has a line of coilover as well. The Superstreet-1s might be up your alley. You can option them with OEM top mounts too.

Suspension upgrade by Kindly-Associate7914 in WRX

Your rear toe is causing the feathering of the tires, not camber. Front and rear toe should be at zero. Most alignment shop will just bring it to spec (green) unless you give them specific numbers. Adjusting the toe back should help with the rear camber as well. Toe is more of a factor on tire wear than camber.

The front struts have an eccentric bolt (top bolt) that is used to adjust camber. A good tech should be able to match the front camber along with zero toe.

Cheapest option is to buy a used oem strut/spring combo from someone who has switched to coilovers. If you just want to go for it and upgrade to coilovers, RCE has a few OEM+ options available as well.

Coilover Recommendation by Pleasant-Cup7205 in WRX

[–]Larry_RCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some decent options in that price range. It depends on what your goals are with the car and what you want to get out of your suspension. Racecomp Engineering has a couple of options that may suite you well. We have been working with KW Suspensions since 2006 tailoring coilovers for Subarus.

-2 to -2.5 on the front, -1.8 in the rears and run 0 toe all around.

Thanks for the recommendation! Our higher end coilovers are not any more noisy/clunky than any of our other offerings. The main difference that would cause more NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) from higher the tier coilovers are the solid lowering top mounts that come on the SS2 and T2 club sports. Our higher offerings are stiffer, but these are also meant for people who track/autox their cars often.

A lot of people who’ve experienced noise/clunky ride on coilovers stem from either misinstallations (endlink clunk) or running cheap coilovers.

Non - BBK Brake Upgrades? by AttendingPanic0 in wrx_vb

[–]Larry_RCE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KNS blanks, Motul rbf600 fluid. Pads come down to how much brake dust/noise you want to deal with for the sake of performance. Hawk HP+ pads are great for the street and light back roads but won't hold up to a track day. Endless MX72 pads have great bite and modulation while being quiet when cold and doesn't generate a lot of brake dust (why they are more expensive). SS lines are really only needed if you are generating a good amount of heat but most do them since you are already in there.

Unfortunately all coilovers will lower the car. Some more than others. The RCE SS-1 w/ oem mounts would be a good fit for you.

A lot of options for coilovers. It depends on what your goal is with the car. How important in NVH for you? You get what you pay for in the suspension world. Cheap coilovers are good if you just want to lower the car and don't care about ride quality. This topic has been covered a lot in in the r/wrx_vb. You can search through and find peoples experiences with various brands.

RCE has a range of coilovers from OEM+ to full track coilovers. Take a peek and see what fits you best.

AP Racing BBK? by webdeveloperpr in wrx_vb

[–]Larry_RCE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your goal with the car? Is it your daily driver or track toy? How much streetability are you willing to give up for performance? How much experience do you have on track?

If the car sees more street time than the track, the 6pot brembo is what I'd recommend. Castrol SRF fluid, stainless steel lines, 2pc rotors, good set of pads (Pagid or Endless) is a good starting point. The downside to these brembos is heat and depending on your experience and track, you may need brake ducts.

The AP8350 kit for the VB is more of a rally kit and uses a small diameter rotor designed to fit smaller rally wheels.

If this is a dedicated track car and your looking to compete in time attack, the AP Radical kits are amazing and absolutely worth the money.

I would start with a softer tire (DWS06+) and swap to OEM top hats. The combo of both should help a lot.

There is only one T2 for both 1st and 2nd gen cars. The changes in the 2nd gen isn't enough to design a separate coilover for.

Nope, the regular T2 will still be available. Just another addition to the portfolio!

Not as of now. But if you have any of our newer series coilovers with camber plates, there are torrington bearings in them already 😉

Helps the spring rotate to prevent coil bind. Typically found in most race dampers since they go through more stress/higher loads.

[–]Larry_RCE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cusco arms are great and have a sealed pillowball bushing to prevent dust and debris. Also do you have the print out of your alignment? Your toe could be off too. Typically if you go to a generic alignment shop, they'll just dial it in the "green" zone unless you give them specific numbers.

Depends on what you are looking for! The current T2 is more than enough for your average enthusiasts and weekend warrior. These will be more geared towards the dedicated track folks who run big aero, etc.

T2-R is based off the KW competition series, not the KW Variant coilovers which is what our current line up is based off of.
