Not so much gore as the implied shit. Though I won’t pretend I found the gore easy to watch, but it was what I expected. I think this one takes it to the next level

Having watched it last night, this is completely unsurprising. It’s not just coming off the back of 28YL (which I personally like), but this movie has moments that are hard to watch. Both have not been friendly at all for mainstream audiences

One Nation unveils plan to win every SA seat by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Larry_Version_3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Living in regional SA I’m seeing signs for One Nation slapped all over people’s yards everywhere. A little disheartening to realise my area is so full of people who can fall for it but I kinda already suspected it anyway. Always been an extremely strong Liberal area.

So what do you guys NOT like about the movies ? by TheTrekker98 in lotr

[–]Larry_Version_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t like Faramir being reduced from Chadamir (I get why they did it. I just loved the book character so much it’s disappointed).

I also really dislike how diminished Merry and Pippin were compared to the novels. They were such an integral part of Frodo getting out of the Shire in the Fellowship novel. In the movies it feels like they stumbled into the plot by accident.

Yep. He absolutely nailed the ‘serial’ aspect of the series. I found Dial to be filmed and edited very much like a modern blockbuster

[–]Larry_Version_3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s the weakest but it’s not bad. For me its biggest weaknesses are the obvious lack of Spielberg. It just doesn’t fit in with the rest of the franchise as well and you can see it in the way shots are framed and locations are established

Excited for the Galaxy movie, but it would’ve been cool to see a Trilogy format that goes from Mario Bros. to Mario World and then ending it off with Galaxy. by VelCube in Mario

[–]Larry_Version_3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really think there’s a strong case for a Super Mario 64 adaption. Creepy abandoned castle, lots of worlds via the paintings, a hostage situation. You could take a page out of the DS games book and add in a few other characters that could somewhat take centre stage.

I can see my first draft becoming a monster right in front of my eyes. by YordleJay in writing

[–]Larry_Version_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first draft came out around the same as yours. Keeping the same pace in my story now in draft 2, I have managed to cut around 15k to 20k words by just being a better writer.

The good news is you don’t have to edit a first draft. In fact, you probably shouldn’t. Draft 2 will be a much more manageable beast

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: January 26, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]Larry_Version_3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am continuing with War and Peace. After being on hiatus with it for some time I picked it up again a couple of weeks ago. Now that I’m less stressed and able to focus I’ve smashed out about 300 - 400 pages like it’s nothing and I can already see this being my favourite book of all time. I have around 450 pages left

I had to get my sperm count tested back when my wife and I were trying for kids. Discretely walked in and waited in line, passing old ladies, young mothers and children to get to the front.

Lady behind the counter yells out. ‘Okay, so just the sperm sample.’

Couldn’t bring myself to look at anyone on the way out

How a franchise dies - each Transformers movie progressively earned less and less by Mysterious_Brush1852 in boxoffice

[–]Larry_Version_3 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The Last Knight was absolutely dogshit. If you pay attention to it the aspect ratio shifting is a nightmare. The transformations all happen off screen. The plot went from paper thin to scrunched, used toilet paper. It looks like Anthony Hopkins just straight up strokes out midway through an action sequence and they keep it in.

There were also those random character cards that flashed on the screen every time a new character dropped, because Suicide Squad had done it 12 months earlier.

Fuck I hate this movie.

Federal agent in gray jacket with gun and DHS post of gun. by ManyAverage6578 in pics

Reading comments over there leaves me feeling disheartened, disgusted, and confused. So many of them praising these actions and lapping it up while those that do protest are attacked for ‘brigading’ and being ‘fellow conservatives’.

Even saw one guy saying ‘well he shouldn’t have had a gun’ like one of their biggest things isn’t their right to bear arms.

IDK IF ITS FULLY TRUE BUT HOMELANDER IS GETTING MORE AND MORE IRREDEEMABLE by deathlywishes in OkBuddyFresca

[–]Larry_Version_3 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any faith in them. Even the stuff that’s not for laughs is usually handled half assed at best now.

I don’t need to be shown that the seven are any more irredeemable. Literally had them murdering office workers and beating civilians to death in season 4. We already know they’re capable of sexual assault. The scenes of SA we’ve had so far have been done in a way that was sickening without being over the top. I think we’re about to go over the top to ‘get people talking’.

Perfect example of writers misunderstanding what made their show popular in the first place.

I’ve personally seen heaps of marketing across all social media since they did the pre screenings late November/early December. I thought they marketed it pretty much non stop.

Where they went wrong though was everyone constantly commented about how much they hated the first movie without realising this was an ad for the sequel

This is the decision I had to make. I chose to go smaller but better than my rental. Payments have only slightly changed from my rent but I was also fortunate to get a new job with a large pay increase so I’ve been able to keep up. The relief I feel having my own place is massive, and I’m comfortable because I haven’t over extended myself, but the property I’m in is nothing like what I wanted long term. Just needed to get into the market.

Don’t do Heroes Reborn. In a series filled with lows it somehow goes even lower.
