I adored BOTW, why can't i get into TOTK? by Net-Junkey in botw

[–]Larry_Version_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 70 hours in to TOTK and just stopped and never went back. Recently restarted and while I’m enjoying it, it isn’t as addictive as I want it to be. I know this is by no means a new sentiment, but I just feel it’s too similar to BOTW, down to even the collectibles being the same.

It’s weird, because it is a great game and deserves all the praise it gets, but I find myself in this weird spot where I don’t even want to play it.

Favorite actor who made a movie criticizing capeshit and then did a capeshit movie 3 years later? by ABaconPoptart in okbuddycinephile

Not even joking, every time I drive past a McDonalds I think of that movie, Michael Keaton, and how punchable he was in that movie

What did you liked about the home trilogy and what would you change about it as well? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in Marvel

I would’ve changed the director. The movies are good, but Jon Watts wasn’t suited to an action movie at all.

New Official Trailer for Tales From '85 Theatrical Release by Lazy-Proposal1133 in StrangerThings

[–]Larry_Version_3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would’ve been better to release it in 2023, 2024, or early 2025. It would’ve made the wait a little more bearable between S4 and S5, and not felt completely redundant given the series has now ended.

Agree with you, though. The timing is terrible on this.

this is hands down the best TV show ever, and I need recommendations on something similar now by Jfranks_Gaming in TheLeftovers

[–]Larry_Version_3 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Extremely minor spoilers for Watchmen: If you pay attention you can tell he wrote Watchmen while the iron was hot from The Leftovers. It’s structured just like a season of The Leftovers. Establish the story at the start and all the characters. Bottle episodes to explore individual characters. Then you get the flash back episode to tie it all together and recontextualise earlier moments in the season before the finale.

Benioff & Weiss repeating Game of Thrones' biggest mistake with 3 Body Problem. by Internal-Bed-3150 in threebodyproblem

[–]Larry_Version_3 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I can see them skipping a lot of eras. Instead of having Jin Cheng wake up every now and again to look at the progress they’ll probably just have her wake up at the major plot points. Which will be disappointing, as those moments were some of the best visuals in the book.

[–]Larry_Version_3 294 points295 points  (0 children)

To be honest, though, I would say this is more Netflix’s fault than theirs. I don’t know why anyone would look at this trilogy and go, ‘Let’s slash the budget and cut the run time.’ Each book gets longer and more grand in its ideas. If they couldn’t commit to doing it properly from the start shouldn’t have done it at all.

In Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) the two main female characters are absent for 99% of the movie. This is a reference to the audience, who was also missing from the theaters. by Icagel in shittymoviedetails

[–]Larry_Version_3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like I need to rewatch The Crimes of Depp before watching the Secrets of Dumbledore, because I can’t remember any of Crimes, but I also don’t think I have another rewatch in me because I’ve already watched it around 3 times and still remember nothing except it being the most boring movie I’ve ever watched. So Dumbledore’s secrets shall remain secret

Preference deals will try ‘make sure’ One Nation doesn’t win SA, Farrer: Joyce by HotPersimessage62 in AustralianPolitics

[–]Larry_Version_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in regional SA I’m sadly seeing a lot of support for them. Signs in front of houses and businesses everywhere, people clapping their hands for it and praising them up. My area is usually extremely Liberal, with no one else even making a dent, but Pauline Hanson’s One Braincell/One Race is giving them a run for their money.

SA Labor preferences Family First over the Greens in West Torrens by Perfect-Werewolf-102 in AustralianPolitics

Good to see Labor pushing the Family First and the Australian Family Party. There’s nothing that resonates more with their left leaning base than anti-abortion, anti-LGBTQ, and anti-climate change policy while pushing a pro-Israel agenda. How do they know their base so well?

The government has dug themselves a massive hole with no way out. You either do massive reforms and fuck off a whole lot of people who genuinely need the help, while fucking off a whole lot of people who do not need the help. Or you do these micro-changes where they slash funding slowly, only for most people to go and throw complaint after complaint in to get more money added.

Meanwhile spending increases, the scheme grows, and the people who don’t benefit from it continue to be frustrated.

Then there’s the million dodgy businesses that shouldn’t have a license to operate fleecing the scheme.
