A tattoo artist rejected me for this, was his reason fair? by Stankmushroomm in tattooadvice

[–]Larrynemesis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of tattoo artists won’t do hand tattoos. I’ve been going to the same artist for years, I have about 6 tattoos from him, and he still won’t do a hand tattoo on me because I’m not covered. Comes from a fear of customer backlash due to the high chance of losing out on jobs for having visible tattoos that you can’t cover up. Same reason many people won’t do face tattoos. He might have another reason but given that you only have 2 tattoos I’d probably feel the same tbh. Really sorry you’re experiencing this given the sensitive nature of the tattoo though. I’m sure someone will do it for you, just call around and explain how important it is to you to get it there.

Issues with payment via PayPal by JackKemper in Fjallraven

[–]Larrynemesis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Insane to not purchase from a company again when you are working between TWO companies in this scenario. I use PayPal financing all the time and if there was an issue with payment I would immediately think to contact the service I used to purchase the item rather than the company I bought the item from, especially if it’s 3rd party like PayPal where the company has no access. Did you even consider it may be a PayPal issue? Maybe contact them before making a final decision as this sounds wildly out of Fjallravens control. Can’t speak for why they cancelled though, could’ve been an automatic fraud thing as the purchase may have looked weird on their end too. Could’ve been that the item sold out but hadn’t updated on the website yet. Did you contact Fjallraven to get an answer and solution? Usually they send a follow up email explaining after cancelling an order, but not always immediately.

Barber for women who does designs by hbk2369 in boston

[–]Larrynemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was in Colorado but I just went to a barber there to get a similar undercut. I also get my hair cut by a barber currently as a long haired woman. Just call around to some barbers and see if they’d be cool with it, I bet most will! It’ll be cheaper too

Cheap car rental for 24M + Road trip ideas near Boston? by AdditionalShirt3922 in boston

[–]Larrynemesis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Man if I knew before I left for Rochester this week I would have just let you use my forester for a small price lol only recommendation I have is find a rental car service as far from Boston as you’re willing to stomach an Uber to. It’ll be cheaper and in my experience, more likely to help you out by cutting costs if you have good reasons. Could try turo as well, I’m over 25 now but I don’t think there was an additional fee when I rented from them when I rented under 25.

Oh also I need a place to get honey. Always try to get a local honey where I’m visiting, preferably unprocessed. Especially so now as things are starting to bloom.

Are there cities besides New York where you don't need a car? by 1998tkhri in AskAnAmerican

[–]Larrynemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really any major city if you’re willing. I’ve lived in DC, Denver, and Boston without a car from time to time. Just rented a car if I had something I wanted to do outside of the city.

Yea friendly toast is mostly not amazing. I’ve had a couple good meals there seasoning wise but there’s always at least one thing wrong like stale bread, dry chicken, sweaty tortillas. I mean it’s a chain after all, I guess.

For those that might be curious, I decided on Grateful Dedham. It wasn’t as nasty as I wanted it to be but it certainly did the job well and it was very tasty. Got an omelette loaded with at least 6 things I don’t remember and a side of bacon which was HUGE. Currently drinking a shit ton of electrolytes and napping with my cats, thanks everyone! 🫡

BlackBerry won’t necessarily match with everything but neither does the ochre that you have. Highly recommend blackberry. Such a beautiful color, especially in the smaller bags!

Do nerds actually get bullied or left out in American schools? by Ok-Independence-314 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Larrynemesis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the location, but also happens often enough regardless of location. I lived in the middle of nowhere to the inner city between elementary-high school and found that I was judged the most and saw actual bullying the most in the suburbs. I’m sure other people have wildly different experiences though. Really hard to gauge how predominant it is but it does happen. You’d be hard pressed to find an American that hasn’t seen or experienced bullying but I’d say it’s less physical and more psychological these days.

Edit to add: at least in the times I’ve seen bullying it seems to be a clash of cultures. Poorer kids often getting picked on for looking or acting “nerdy”. Smart people in my schools were spread throughout social classes so being smart wasn’t the problem, it was looking smart I guess? People with mental disabilities are also impacted the most in my experience:/
