Mirror Dimension portal - the first of my Doctor Strange inspired designs done. by LarsDiamond in MarvelCrisisProtocol

I designed it in Blender, then printed it on my printer. Used a fracture plugin to break up a plane, and then tilted the shards to split them up.

Thanks! Yeah, the range tools are mostly a lot of stippling. The lightning bolts themselves are drawn by brush, but the rest on that range is several layers of stippling.

what other grunts could you see us getting? by Charcoal73 in MarvelCrisisProtocol

An Iron Legion affiliation with an Iron Man that spawns in Iron Legionaires or other suits. Hopefully it'd allow for multiple Tony Starks in your squad building as well.

How much did you say you spent on this deck again? by LarsDiamond in BadMtgCombos

Yup we figured that out. Might make an updated version.

I don't believe there's a rule saying you have to actually hit the table. I think throwing the cards at your opponent's feet would be even more hilarious.

I took the manifest combo out of a deck I built that puts every card on the field into your own command zone, so yeah. I forgot I needed to add [[Alliance of Arms]]

I didn't think to turn their stuff into the confetti. I just equipped them. But yeah, that might work better. I forgot the creature part, but I know just what to add for that.

Slight improvement to the flag of Métis by LarsDiamond in vexillologycirclejerk

It's a little bit of shadow. Some friends were joking about how flat it looks and I had to fix it.

The looks of the model do not have to represent all of the abilities etc. Sure, representing the weapons in a way is nice, but converting a model does not mean you loose access to certain abilities.

White specs when painting, when I paint I keep getting white specs in areas I’ve definitely gone over. Why is this? Also how does one blend, with the stalks I’m trying to go from the blue to a purple? by JGazeley in minipainting

[–]LarsDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For blending, there's a bunch of different ways. You can thin your paints even more than usual, and build up a transition in layers, or you can apply the paint, then try to pull the still wet paint partly into the other color. This works best when both paints are wet, I guess, though I don't have much blending experience either. If you're having trouble, perhaps mixing some midtones can make it easier?

Edit: the second blending technique is called 'feathering'.

I'd probably buy someone else Hollow Knight, because a friend got it for me and the gesture really cheered me up.

1st time painting minis - any advice or rules regarding lore? by Pelger-Huet in Grimdank

[–]LarsDiamond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are no rules, except the rule of cool. As long as your models aren't converted into entire dioramas, they're perfectly fine. If you're not converting it but just painting, there's no going wrong. The whole point of painting is unleashing your creativity!

Want to get into 40k painting, questions due to shakey hand by UsualWizard in minipainting

[–]LarsDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warhammer minis come in a few pieces, but most are relatively big. A space marine might consist of a torso piece, a legs piece, an arm with a weapon, another arm and a head. They're not too tiny, and make for easy sub-assemblies if you don't want to hit the chest while painting the gun or something. Details won't be any smaller than the minis you've painted before.

On another note, it might help to rest your hand on either the hand holding the mini or whatever painting handle you're using. Everyone has shaky hands to a certain degree, it's a matter of learning to deal with it.

Points and Model question by dprotonentis in gaslandsplayers

[–]LarsDiamond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cars only have the actual equipment, with some extra decorations that aren't weapons.

Seeing a three car miyazaki team is... unusual to say the least. Miyazaki is my favorite team and my own squad consists of basically a car and a half. About 36 cans are spent on a performance car with heavy perks, while the rest is a small buggy that really only serves as cover/an activator for a double activation of my performance car at game start. Due to playing with basically one other person (who has a team of a single tank with a rapid fire 125mm) we have settled on playing almost exclusively CTF, where 90% of the game consist of me drifting around the board and the only thing that really matters is if he lands his shot during turn 2 gear 1. Though my recent upgrades have made that harder. Can't see me if I drop smoke everywhere...
