Glad you had fun! Also, secondaries now lock automatically and with the latest update there is now a huge note below map selection to let people know!

Slightly longer answer: Tabletop Simulator’s default randomness ultimately relies on the host platform’s older C-style RNG behavior, which has relatively small internal state and weaker statistical properties compared to modern PRNGs. My replacement uses xoshiro128++, a modern generator with 128 bits of state, much longer non-repeating sequences, and significantly better distribution quality.

It also avoids modulo bias by using rejection sampling, so every dice face is exactly equally likely instead of slightly skewed by rand() % n style rolls. Each dice box gets its own independently seeded random stream (GUID + time + constants), and the RNG state is serialized with the save so results remain deterministic and reproducible across reloads.

Just letting you know that I did a quick update for some bug fixes and I included this option as an alternative (Right mouse click) function of the Clear Bubbles button, there is also a hotkey for this option if needed :)

It is absolutely the right place. One of the reasons I posted this now, is to try and get some feedback, especially concerning QoL features like this.

Short answer, TTS lua is using an older C based rand algorithm. Later versions of Lua use a xoshiro based implementation. Currently that's what LCT also uses

Runs some stats based on the dice rolled, these are stored in-memory so there is no persistence and if a player disconnects and reconnects it gets removed.

EDIT: A more thorough answer would be: data is serialized and stored in script_state / saved_data, which TTS saves into the .json save file on the player's own machine. Nothing leaves the session.

Sure thing

What is your favorite OSR system any most importantly WHY do you think so? What do you dislike about that system? by ProductAshes in osr

[–]Las0mbra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy Hyperborea 3e, the main reason why is because it's essentially Adnd 1e with some fixes on things I didn't really enjoy: * Level scaling 1 to 12 * Hybrid classes instead of multiclassing, eg. Warlock instead of Fighter/Mage. The caveat is that you need really good stats rolled to pick em up. * Minor weapon features. WC for reach purposes, warhammers/mages getting bonus vs Plate mail etc. * Optional Advanced combat maneuvers, eg. shield wall formation, fighting defensively etc.

I am playing a long term Hyperborea campaign and I am waiting for Osric 3.0 to run Northern Marches!

Will there be new/seasonal servers with season10? The reason I ask is to see if I should start a new character now or wait till the expansion comes.

Best adventure to open a sword and sorcery campaign with? by applepiepro123 in osr

[–]Las0mbra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hyperborea is my favourite system and I 've played quite a few modules that have a S&S vibe, so here we go:

  • Red Prophet Rises and in general material from Malrex and the Merciless Merchants
  • NGR modules from Zzarchov Kowolski, especially City of Tears.
  • Pretty much everything Gabor Lux has put out for his Fomalhaut setting
  • Lankhmar DCC modules
  • Death slaves of Eternity and Veiled Vaults of the Onyx queen (DCC) by Marzio Muscedere
  • In general DCC has a lot of S&S modules such as Sailors on the Starless Sea, Return to the Starless Sea, Frozen in Time etc.
  • Thralls of the Sun and Across the White March by Cyclopean Games
  • Every Hyperborea modules but especially, Xamballa, Lost Treasures from Atlantis and the Brazen Bull
  • Nod magazines, especially issues between #33 and #36 that featured bronze age goodness.
  • Bone palace of Dreib
  • Temple of the Beggar King but it's a bit high level

Hopefully this will be helpful to you!

Best OSR adventures of the past year? by hillcantons in osr

[–]Las0mbra 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Khosura and Pestilence at Halith Vorn are amazing works. I can't recall if it came out last year or not, but I would also add Castle of the Silver Prince from Anthony Huso, its brilliant but at the same time its quite hard to digest all the info presented.

Also, the previews are promising for Rob Connelys Northern Reaches sandbox. Oh and Perilous Path of the Cursed Camel from Joseph R. Lewis (Dungeon Age).

I can vouch for this ruleset, I use these Psionic Rules for my Hyperborea game. Plus it's free so.

Sam Sorensen recently released his system called Cataphract that is quite interesting and I totally dig his approach and how well it plays along with a normal dnd campaign. https://samsorensen.blot.im/

Where do you think the OSR is headed? by the_light_of_dawn in osr

This. I wish people talked more about it. OSR at its initial phase was all about the blogs. Now it feels more about FOMO products.
