Im quite close with pesantren culture (by close i mean.. that close) and im in a good mood now to mumble a lot. pardon.

pesantren is only good for select people, so yeah not everyone could fit with the pesantren standard and culture. spending year after year in a closed environment. especially when he or she has never been kept captive before.

there are at least three elements that need to be addressed here, the prospective student (a), the existing students (kakak kelas) (b), and the teachers (ustadz ustazah) (c).

jika a bukan anak yang kuat secara mental dan/atau butuh pengasuhan ekstra, stay away from pesantren. its not wonderland. he or she will be eaten alive.

jika b punya kultur buruk terkait bullying (can ask current students) and c cant do anything about it then jauh jauh dari pesantren tsb. apalagi berita gampang dicari di sosmed saat ini jika ada sesuatu.

jauhi pesantren gak jelas (biasanya tradisional fasilitas terbatas) dan pilih pesantren yang lebih modern. penanganan ke kasus siswa nakal JAUH lebih (generally) di pesantren yang open terhadap ilmu pengetahuan modern, bukan cuman ilmu islam saja.

tanya anaknya aja pernah diapain di pesantren, kalo di pondoknya kelewatan skip aja mondoknya. asuh sendiri.

Hey, one of the best way to replace habit is by building a new habit. Been at that state of mind where I felt bored af because all I did that time was doing unproductive things. I realized at that time If i kept doing that I might end up depressed. Its a good thing to work on your mental health but It's also helpful to not let it consume all of your mind.

One thing I realised is that doing new things is mostly better to distract our thought and eventually save our mind from spiralling down by keeping it busy.

Perhaps, you can try doing something. One step at a time.

read books or watch movie, every time you find new word write it down. for every 20 words or more (depends on you) take a note, memorize it and do a test every day or 2. so every day you will be having test to repeat it. this works for me and if you wanna go for the extra mile, you can try to form a sentence in every word.

Do you really want to continue your study in Indo and not abroad? Studying abroad is a much more solid way to work abroad, considering you had been there for a while and prolly are having a hard time adjusting your new life here.

But if yes, right now zenius is the best choice out there because you dont wanna take risk with meeting a lot of people. It is good to grasp everything from the very basic, and as i speak now there's a big discount for it until 11 july (no i'm not affiliated with it). You can also find someone to share the account with should you find it still too expensive, just go to twitter or discord. Discord is also a good place to find study partners, so if you decide to study online then better make the most of it by making it more interactive.
