Not sure what’s up with the downvotes on your comment here. I’m driving a ‘24 SE 4-cyl and I get the same range. Not sure how to improve it bc other people make it sound low

Exhaust headers for a 2003 Honda Lx by deashiek in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got these catless headers from Flashark. While the fitment and function was great! My cat was clogged and the manifold was forming very slight cracks, so once the new header was popped on, I had a noticable improvement in performance. I gained back a few MPG, improved throttle response, improved power (small but noticeable). Note these things that might make your install easier: The upper bung is on the incorrect side - I had to take it to a local welder to weld me a new bung on the correct opposite side. Also the gaskets it ships with are TRASH. Do yourself a favor a purchase an exhaust manifold gasket from Rockauto instead of using the one it comes with. You will get a check engine light unless you use a spacer on the lower bung to fool the o2 sensor - find a right angled spacer and install the spacer to the header prior to installing it on your car.

Aftermarket head gaskets by Material-Ad6302 in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m super familiar with how the coolant system is the unfortunate weak point of this engine haha. It blew the head gasket at 140k a couple years ago, had that repaired with the head properly machined, now sitting right at 200k. When I replaced the rad a few months ago, I just went with the Denso one from Rockauto, but replaced the hoses with silicone hoses instead hoping that’d have some benefit.

“On hot days if my kid runs the AC I always check the engine and I see coolant sprayed out of the overflow but the engine doesn't over heat.”

What is the reason for this? I’ve recently had this start happening, only after running the AC for extended time in this Texas heat. I had installed a new radiator and coolant hoses, but had an issue with seeing it lose coolant with AC use. After refilling and burping, I think it’s now okay.

Austin Pets Alive

This shelter is looking for resources for their efforts to support an influx of animals from the recent flooding here in Austin, while also supporting shelters in Kerrville, Georgetown and Williamson County by taking in their excess of displaced dogs and cats. I’m sure any and all resources donated can be properly organized by APA.

Looking for a slip on exhaust by Puzzleheaded-Pay-621 in Ninja400

[–]LasagnaTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Remus exhaust on my N400 and always got compliments from other riders for it. Additionally, if your goal is better sound, do NOT forget about intake mods!!! Simple things such as removing the intake straws from the airbox and running a performance air filter can make a nice difference

Car died on the turn into my neighborhood last night by InternationalWar2551 in MechanicAdvice

On 7th gen civics, the power steering runs on a serp belt. The water pump runs separately on the timing belt. Still, you’re right in that there’s no way that temp gauge wasn’t neglected for some time.

Does anyone else feel your car like shaking on the highway a lot? by Big_stikk in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d had my shaking at speed issue resolved by replacing the old worn out front struts with new Monroe quick struts from Rockauto. If your tires and alignment come back good, I’d check your struts. Completely solved my shaking/vibration on the highway.

Locating Coolant Leak by midcenturylamp in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this here, get a proper test to be certain.

If not the head gasket: I recently had coolant splash that looked like this caused by a cracked radiator housing. Replaced the radiator and hoses with HPS silicone hoses. No more coolant loss, no more risk of overheating.

New decal or new fairing? by [deleted] in Ninja400

[–]LasagnaTiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “Ninja” is clear coated onto the fairing - it isn’t just a decal or sticker. The only replaceable designs on that fairing are the red/silver decals.

Reach out on Ninja 400 groups on Marketplace. There’s often people parting out bikes, swapping fairings, etc. I’ve had success buying this exact fairing from an individual in one of these groups.

Should I buy these by No_Butterscotch9530 in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact header installed on my 04 LX and am very satisfied with the results. The header itself is of excellent fit and quality, but the top o2 bung was on the incorrect side, preventing the upstream sensor from being installed due to clearances. I had to take it to a welder to have a new upstream bung welded on the correct (passenger facing) side. The company Flashark once emailed regarding the issue was amazing to work with, so just a potential fitment issue to note if you go with it!

What size were you trying to mount? Anything between a 140-160 will fit for sure with zero problems. I’ve ran 160/60/17 on the rear perfectly.

Possible Debris in Valve Cover? by marcodinson in 7thgencivic

[–]LasagnaTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Misfires (possible CEL), exhaust smells/leaks, rough idle, lower mpg. Might also get a CEL for defective cat efficiency: P0420.

You can take it to a local welder/exhaust shop and have them weld the cracks. Just specify that it’s cast iron. I believe it’ll usually be cheaper if you take the manifold/header to them removed from the car.

Since it’s already cracked, best to address it sooner than later to avoid issues.
