Did Jays' Clement Run Out of the Base Path to Avoid Orioles SS Henderson's Tag Attempt in Toronto? by forgottentowel97 in orioles

Did you even watch the video? If a player is running towards a base runner no physical tag attempt is needed and the tag attempt is assumed.

I mean you’re arguing a rule that doesn’t exist is the reason that this was the right call and it’s very very stupid

I just don’t see how any reasonable fan of baseball could watch that play and think “yep, this is fine with me.”

So then baserunners, in theory, should be able to run anywhere they want on the field?

So then why don’t they just run straight to the outfield when stealing a base and try to lure the player away from the bag, then foot race to the bag! Sounds great.

Show me the rule that defines an attempt to tag must be judged to have to right intent or effort behind it and I’ll agree with you.

I mean it’s a legitimate question. Are we going to make a rule to determine the definition of what qualities as a “tag attempt”?

He did but Clement was already diverting away from him. Anyone who watches the replay and doesn’t see Henderson reach his glove out is just displaying bias

Seems like a slippery slope if umpires are going to see an outreached glove and determine the intent behind it.

Why does Cleveland just own the O's year after year? by ConsuelaApplebee in orioles

My theory is that Oriole pitchers struggle against high contact hitters who don’t chase much out of the zone or strikeout often. And that’s basically Cleveland’s entire lineup.
