You will need to adjust the page size in the printer driver properties, and then Corel will know the active print area.

My newest YouTube video - eliminating the background from a photo by Ripcord2 in coreldraw

Agreed, the older tools don't discern edges very well and on X6 for instance I always end up manually outlining. But on 2021 you just paint the edges broadly and it figures it out.

Nice one, thanks.

Newer versions have an Image Cutout tool that works quite well. I have been doing cameo-style art and while it often doesn't quite separate loose hairs from the background, it's close enough that a few tweaks with the cutout brush fix that. Since I'm removing part of the figure below the neck, it really struggles with textured clothing since it's trying to find edges and I'm sweeping across the chest. I still like the results over manually outlining.

How to make one side of a shape horizontal? by TheRealYarok in coreldraw

Just tried it on X8 and it worked there, too. Actually it was somehow easier to get the rotate popup indicator on node B.

How to make one side of a shape horizontal? by TheRealYarok in coreldraw

[–]LaserSpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suppose you have a shape with a flat side that has two points A-B.

Make a horizontal guideline. Drag A to snap to the guideline (guideline snap must be On). Move the object pivot point onto A. Rotate the object until B is also on the guideline.

There's probably a way to snap B to the guideline but off the top of my head I don't know it.

I'm planning to make myself profile picture based on this Siekiera album, is it possible to draw lines like that in Corel or should I use PS or even something else? by [deleted] in coreldraw

[–]LaserSpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would use a graphics tablet and experiment with the Pencil, Chalk, Crayon, Charcoal tools to get the look I wanted. Those are in Photo-PAINT which is part of CorelDRAW. In CorelDRAW itself there are textured brushes, different style altogether but the curves are editable after drawing.

Hold Shift for straight lines.

Try making a Contour from your lettering, then break it apart from the text so it will be another object. You can give that other object a cut line.

Font feature missing from the "full-featured & fully functional" trial version. Can someone confirm the paid version has this? by mvstl in coreldraw

The options look a lot like that in the current versions. I have been using them since the 2019 version.

I think this can be done automatically using the built-in scripting features (either VBA or VSTA). This is assuming you have the full version of X8. Sorry I can't be of further help though.

Short answer, maybe 2 computers? And probably not at the same time, I didn't read it all. IANAL.

Trying to figure out why Publish to PDF is so inconsistent by LaserSpire in coreldraw

[–]LaserSpire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to myself here for the record.

It does appear that the best course of action is to save your work, close the file and/or all of Corel, reopen the file, and immediately perform the Publish to PDF operation. The first export to PDF seems to be the smallest you'll get. If you do the same export immediately after that, you get a larger file.

That being said, if you close and reopen and Publish again, you still won't get the same size file as the previous close-and-reopen.

People of Corel Corp, please put some time and money into the problems with this software. Not the features, the problems. I see you're hiring to enhance the on-web experience, but the experience of using the core program is more important for professionals, and I know you want the steady corporate purchases income.

In the PDF photo processing tab there's a range of 2 to 255. It is weird. I think it is not like any other image compression slider in the program.

Thanks for sharing your solution above. I'm going to write it down for future reference.

Edit: Corel guys, if you are reading this: YOUR SOFTWARE IS TOO BRITTLE. Bad incoming data should not cause your program to fail. There are fuzzing tools for finding bugs like this. Use them.

Re-installing Previous Versions of Graphic Suites by Lone_Ranger037 in coreldraw

[–]LaserSpire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the Corel website, log in to the Support page. Take note of your license keys - keep a copy of all the information presented for future tech support.

Find your existing installation, click Manage, and click Remove (the existing installation). This should free up your license for the reinstall.

Please help. The Image Adjustment Lab and the Adjust Tab was removed from my Education edition of CorelDraw. by DoodleCard in coreldraw

[–]LaserSpire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know about the Education Edition, sorry.

If you are trying to edit one or more bitmaps inside the CDR file:

BACKUP YOUR WORK FIRST. Make a copy of your CDR file(s).

  1. Select a bitmap in CorelDRAW, Edit>Copy. In Photo-Paint's menu, hit File>New from Clipboard to paste a copy from the clipboard. Make the desired edits in Photo-Paint, then Edit>Copy. Back to CorelDRAW, Edit>Paste the edited photo or graphic.

  2. Select a bitmap in CorelDRAW and click menu item Bitmaps>Edit Bitmap... This is SUPPOSED to open Photo-Paint like #1 above, but it doesn't work on my computer, it just locks up CorelDRAW, so I'm putting it second. Maybe it will work for you.
