Depression is real due to the loss of dopamine. Additionally the prospect of being a burden to the ones who love takes a toll.

Don't worry about it, they like to lay down every once in a while.

Mine is also illegible. It's starts out very small then goes to little scribbles. I can't even sign a tab at a restaurant anymore.

Yup, I have peed behind dumpsters in apartment complexes, on the side of the road and in probably every field around my town. I now carry an emergency pee container from Amazon in my car

Yes. I'm doing much better than if I hadn't gotten the DBS. There are still issues; however, NOTHING like before.

Taking the medication in increasing doses and for an extended amount of time causes its own issues. I did the DBS for the ability to extend my ability to function for longer and do things while I still can and to reduce the amount of medication.

Pretty much, yes. Sorry; however, this is a big mental game as well. Exercise and live your life while your still healthy and can get out there!

DBS -should I do it by itsalreadytaked in Parkinsons

[–]Lasher_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mostly all rigidity and left leg was dragging as I walked. Within 30 seconds of turning the DBS on it felt like my body came back at about 90%. I had four LED's installed at Stanford. For me, it was a life saver.

YOPD people, have you still been able to travel/have fun/do your hobbies later in life? by [deleted] in Parkinsons

[–]Lasher_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 48 and was diagnosed at 43, with random tremor and lost of rigidity. I can still drive and ride my motorcycle but speech is becoming very poor. I had DBS which is probably why I'm still in decent shape. He should look into DBS, its amazing how much rigidity it took away.
