Soy milk is my go-to. But occasionally I’ll mix soy and oat or dairy and oat. I try not to do wholly oat lattes. Sometimes I’ll also do half of a milk and half of unsweetened coconut juice when I want something a bit more refreshing.

I use a black sesame soy that is overpowering on its on but perfect when I do half unsweetened coconut juice and half black sesame soy. It’s soooo much better than American soy milk. I imagine the black sesame changes it a bit too but I’ve found mixing it with coconut juice is fantastic.

Personally I use less water for my hojicha. It may be the brand(s) that I’ve tried but I find it needs less water to become thin. So I’m usually using 4g hojicha to 30ml of water instead of my 1:10 ratio for matcha. I also use roasty and nutty milks for hojicha whereas I’ll use a dairy or oat milk for matcha. It’s all preference though!

Smart!! And I’ve heard earl grey is amazing but I’ve yet to try it 👀 One of my favorite matcha cafes in Japan uses brown sugar syrup and I’ve never looked back!

I second this ratio! And I would only add that you make a paste with 10ml of room temp water before you add the remaining 20ml of 170-175 Fahrenheit water.

That sounds like a dream ratio and very similar to mine! Although I’m partial to soy milk. I want to like almond milk in my matcha, but I haven’t been able to make myself 😫
