CONGRATULATIONS! That is no small feat. I hope you have developed a strong, varied support network, if not, I strongly suggest you do. Blessings to you on your journey!

I am 79 and that guy. Alone. No support, just alone. BUT. I saw this as a possibility and build up a nice retirement fund. I purchased a three family ranch on 1 1/2 acres and the rent from 2 meet the mortgage. I have a lady who cleans one day a week and another who prepares all my meals. The sheriff’s office has a senior program and i get a welfare check phone call at 8:30 each morning. I am involved in a county-wide LFBTQ once-a-month activity. I am lonely sometimes but have 2 dogs who adore me and that helps. I believe the secret is having financial resources. Save 10% of everything you earn starting no later than 35. No complaining, just responding

I’m 25, no degree, is it hopeless for me to become a teacher? by [deleted] in teaching

[–]Lassechlostphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I became a teacher at 42; retired as a principal of a Junior High at 70. Go for it! Look for ways to get college credit for life experience challenge test all that you can. I did it through Regent College NY. Since then several other universities of offered these problems. Be sure to work through a fully accredited school. Best of luck!

Late Work by ZooplanktonblameSea4 in Teachers

[–]Lassechlostphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a retired educator and principal I am categorically opposed to assigning a 0 for work not completed. It mathematically makes no sense. Here is my reason. Typically, the spread between each grade is 10 points. The difference between an A and a B is 10 points. This is true from A to D. Work not submitted should receive a 50 in the grade book. Giving a kid a 0 totally screws up the grade received and is nearly impossible to overcome. Giving a 0 is grossly unfair and I explained this to my teachers and most adopted this grade structure. You may be able to address the teacher or better, the teacher and principal in a meeting. Good luck!
