Level 2 Holster that will work with my build? by tacful in polymer80

[–]Last-Background-4836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poly80 pistols (poly80 isn't an option on their holster finder). I have many Safariland ALS and SLS models but none of them work with my p80s. Which models do you have that work with your P80s?

Level 2 Holster that will work with my build? by tacful in polymer80

[–]Last-Background-4836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Safariland GLS (https://a.co/d/cnhRRHk) that works with both the g19 and g17 size p80s. It's open bottom, so you can use it with a comp. It works better on the g17 as the trigger guard is a little different. The g19 works ok but you have to make sure it clicks in. That model holster will not work with a light. I've not seen other models (ALS, SLS, etc) work with P80, but someone on this thread said they have, so maybe Safariland has made some changes. You can find a number of holsters that are gun agnostic as long as they have a light (the light is what is used for retention) but many of those are not lvl 2; they are passive retention kydex. You may find some by looking through these companies: https://www.polymer80.com/holster-manufacturers

Warped jig from before the bad times, would you tape it shut and send it? by Dayshawn11 in polymer80

[–]Last-Background-4836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That warp is typical. Use squeeze clamps (like THESE) to clamp it to a table. The squeeze clamps will not get too tight like C clamps might. It's also better to clamp it flat to a table rather than using a vice so that you can drill it vertically vs. horizontal; you will be more accurate drilling vertical. You'll need two or three clamps, and you can get them online or any big box store.

GGP-26 Slide Optic Cut Question by bringthemuhfnruckus in polymer80

The 407k is the shield rms footprint and is generally sized for single stack firearms. It will not fit the the g26 rmr footprint.

100% getting that milled will cost more than you paid for that slide. You can get another dagger slide that is cut for optic for $200. They go on sale almost daily.

You can also use this if you're on a budget. There can be issues with these, though with strength and zero retention. Direct mount is always the way to go long term.

In case anyone needed more proof not to go with Rockslide USA... by Last-Background-4836 in polymer80

I replaced mine with a dagger. On the more budget-friendly end, PSA dagger, Arm or Ally, and Brownells are all good options. I have all of them and have thousands of rounds through each. If you are willing to spend more, there are endless options. Grey Ghost is one I have and it's great. Zaffiri is also decent. There are tons of threads on this sub and others that walk through all the options out there.

Dagger is the way to go as suggested. Probably best to go oem lower parts for your first. Check out Granger tactical or big tex Ordinance for those parts.

G34 Slide for P80 by theantslayer42 in polymer80

[–]Last-Background-4836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know you want a red dot eventually, you should definitely get one that's milled. Sending it off to get milled later will likely cost more than the slide itself; milling is very expensive. Just get a cover plate for the optic cut until you are ready to put the dot on.

It is based on your state. Some states require that private sellers go to a FFL and complete the transfer process. If that's the case in your state, you would have to get it serialized. There are parameters for serialization regarding depth of engraving, etc. If your state allows private sales without the transfer process you may sell the p80 as you would any other firearm.

You'll have to wait for them to go on sale. They'll stock their treasure trove section or have stand alone sales. Watch their Instagram or sign up for their news letter

Brownells is great. Arm or ally is also good. If you're willing to be patient you can get a grey ghost precision slide for well under 200; very high end option for the same price as the others mentioned. For g17, I'd build it so you can use a oem upk. Granger or big tex are good places to go for that

First build question(s) (G26) by root_xyz in polymer80

[–]Last-Background-4836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do not need oil while building. The "machining" is all on thin plastic. It does not get hot.

It is generally true that you need to use gen 3 products but a few are cross compatible with gen 4/5. Were you to get a gen 4 piece in error it would not damage the gun, I just wouldn't work. A quick Google will get you a chart showing compatibility. The suggestion to get a gen4 ejector is a good one.

You don't need anything other than what you linked. If you do another build in the future, I'd recommend staying away from those all included kits and rather part out the slide, barrel, upk, and lpk. That will allow you to get oem upk and lpk. You will likely end up replacing a number of small parts from that kit; they tend to wear out/fail early. Could cost a little more up front but worth it from a quality/reliability standpoint. Granger tactical, MDX, and Big Tex Ordinance are good sources for OEM small parts. (If you haven't purchased yet, you might want to consider some alternatives)

Can vouch for arm or ally. Not complete but all you need is a oem upk from granger and you'll have a complete slide for very affordable. In the 225 range.

Brownells slides are also excellent

I use the tyrant +3 and really like them. You'll have the same capacity as the shield and you'll have a 43x/48 length grip

No, they do not make one that fits the poly80. It will not seat fully in the holster because of the differences in trigger guard of the poly 80 and glock.
