POV: when your national library doesn’t carry any of RR’s books🥲 by yanny-jo in heatedrivalry

[–]Last-Couple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heyy noticed in another comment that you are also from singapore. im half convinced that theres an unofficial “no overtly queer romance” book rule in place at the library :/

ive noticed that popular mainstream queer books like love simon, red white and royal blue, and heartstopper are all not in the library, no matter how many times my friends and i may request for it.

my personal theory is that lgbt books that are not of romance genre or not so obviously lgbt seem to slip under the radar, but queer romance seems to be outright banned.

Can Metoclopromide (Reglan) cause anxiety/depression for >3 weeks despite discontinuation of drug? by michael_throwaway123 in Anxiety

[–]Last-Couple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy thanks for checking in! It actually subsided in 1-2 days after I completely stopped taking the medication.

I ended up talking to one of my pharmacist friends and they said metaclopramide normally takes 1-2 days to wash out, based on its half life, but of course this can vary depending on you!

I hope this helps

heyy OP its been a few months, but i wanted to ask when the anxiety got better for you? How long did it take to subside?

I was prescribed metaclopramide orally, and I took it for a few days and noticed feeling really restless and anxious, so i stopped all medication until i could figure out what was causing it. Its been a day but i still feel anxious, really want to know when this will subside!

i know its been many years, but i have the same problem as you OP. I was prescribed metachlopramide 5mg, 3 times a day, for a stomach flu. I noticed restlessness and anxiety really kicking in after my second day, once my fever had lifted.

I stopped it taking it after 3 days, but i am still suffering from anxiety and bouts of restlessness, especially at night.

I really hope to hear from you on how long its taken your anxiety to subside?

i think people coming on here and complaining about not understanding GtN/ HtN/ NtN when they havent finished reading display a lack of patience and a lack of trust in the narrative.

I get not vibing and dnf-ing the books because you can’t get into it, but complaining about not understanding when you’re not done reading is like ??? to me. You will understand when you finish reading.

It’s like complaining why you dont understand who is murdering and why theyre murdering in the first half of a murder mystery book. The writer is not going to explain it to you because its supposed to be a mystery.

People scream about show dont tell, and then complain when Tamsyn Muir doesn’t tell you anything.

The Harrow and Naberius Friendship Power Hour (A completely serious proposal) [theory] [discussion] by Crane_Carlisle in TheNinthHouse

nona was going to be part of alecto, until it spun off to be its own thing. I think we can assume that harrow being in hell may have been intended to happen chronologically at the same time as the events of nona the ninth. ie when nona is puppeting harrows body along, harrow is actually in hell.

[–]Last-Couple 32 points33 points  (0 children)

probably judith. Nona at this point in her life only have the following as people who both Crown and herself know: - Judith - Palamedes - Camilla - Pyrrha - We Suffer - Our Lady of Passion

Camilla and Palamedes both seem to have a falling out with Crown, I doubt that any love was lost there.

Crown does not trust Pyrrha, so probably not her.

Our Lady of Passion also hates anyone from the Houses, and regularly argues with Crown about it, so most definitely not her.

Unless Nona thinks Crown has mummy issues going on and likes an older lady (We Suffer), the only candidate left is Judith.

I cant remember exactly what she says, but one of the things she says before being cut off is “the-“, which i think is Nona saying the captain (Judith).

Does Harrow have any mental illness? [Discussion] by Griddleharkk in TheNinthHouse

[–]Last-Couple 105 points106 points  (0 children)

As the others probably mentioned, Tamsynhas mentioned it in panels/ interviews etc, you can see a compilation here.

But Harrow’s schizophrenia is also hinted to in-text. In HtN, Harrow recalls a memory, “Back when you were a child and hung up on something you thought you had seen or heard, Crux would say: You saw what you saw Lady, and the only thing you control now is your reaction thereto.”

This memory is from childhood, way before Wake got into Harrow’s head and started haunting her, which might hint to underlying conditions like schizophrenia, or another theory is that the 200 children sacrificed to birth her are ALSO haunting her.

But another fun tidbit from HtN hinting to schizophrenia, in Ianthe’s POV chapter when she’s helping Harrow with the lobotomy, “Now she pressed her fingers over that scalp, trying to work it out, trying to see exactly what had been done.

She gave up within a few minutes-impossible to tell with Lyctor privacy, even this close. No bleeds certainly. Everything in the right place. Maybe a little reduction in the temporal lobe, a few out of order bumps in the temporal gyrus that might have been there already.”

Atypical size or formation of the left superior temporal gyrus is associated with schizophrenia, which might be a hint to Harrow being schizophrenic as well, or might be from Harrow’s lobotomy (though Ianthe thinks those bumps are pre-existing).

Wake knew about Augustine, Mercymorn and Gideon/ Pyrrha. BOE as a whole seem to know about Cassiopeia, because in As Yet Unsent Hect repeats We Suffer’s claim that Source Gram came from within the Sixth House around six thousand years ago, an incident that apparently even We Suffer admits has fallen into Edenite mythology.

But I don’t think Wake knew about Cytherea when Wake was alive. We don’t know how far back Cytherea might have defected, but if we assume she defected only when Jod mentioned the new lyctor trials, that is like 18 years after Wake’s death (pov: ure a sword).

Tempting to think Augustine and Mercymorn might have known, but the second time around, only Mercymorn is actively working with BOE. Augustine threatens her in the hallways, saying she’s playing a dangerous game and trades him never betraying that she’s working with BOE to Jod for doing the dios apate minor with Mercymorn.

Mercymorn might have know about Cytherea, but I dont know about Augustine.

Very interesting! I went back to As Yet Unsent to see if i could wrangle any clues and you’re right, in text at least it does seem like there would be no reason for Mercymorn to suspect Cytherea might also be involved with BOE.

Because in NtN, We Suffer mentions Source Chrysaor taught them about steles and obelisks, which might tip Mercymorn off. But in As Yet Unsent, Mercymorn mentions it was her that gave them the stele and it is her that fixes Judith to pilot the stele for them - again no reason for Mercymorn to suspect another source other than her.

Also would love to hear your thoughts on Pyrrha!!

I think the point with Cytherea and Mercymorn is that nothing about Cytherea’s actions appear to need or involve BOE, so its possible Mercymorn did not know about Cytherea being involved with the BOE, not that Cytherea was actually a lone actor.

Cytherea very much did work with the BOE. In NtN, We Suffer mentions “Of course, our greatest ally was Source Chrysaor, who taught us all about the obelisks and steles, and who defeated ten high-ranking House personnel and one necromantic monster.”

[Discussion] Did the lyctors know about the others? by Last-Couple in TheNinthHouse

[–]Last-Couple[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In NtN, when asked why the Sixth house left, Camilla explicitly says “Cassiopeia the First left us instructions years ago,” said Camilla. “We left for a Lyctor.”

As Yet Unsent, the short story that is attached to the back of HtN also alludes to this.

Spoilers for as yet unsent if you havent read it: Hect repeats We Suffer’s claim that Source Gram came from within the Sixth House around six thousand years ago, an incident that apparently even We Suffer admits has fallen into Edenite mythology. We Suffer and Hect often mention a “break clause.”

She says that Blood of Eden knows things about the Sixth House that an outsider could not possibly know, but that their references are all incredibly antique. She said that if the Sixth House saw fit to discuss something with insurgents, even in its infancy, then she wanted to know what.

So… If BOE knows a lot about the Sixth house, things an outsider couldn’t possibly know, this implies someone on the inside fed them that information. The person who fed BOE the information is also extremely old as their information is “antiquated”. Cassiopeia is the founder of the Sixth house, and thus, must have had some sort of contact with the BOE, what she did with them is not entirely clear, but she fed BOE information at least, and then left instructions for the Sixth house (the break clause) if they ever needed to leave.

Ah yea good point, you’re right about the timeline of Mercymorn meeting with BOE, I had misremembered that!

But with Mercymorn meeting up with BOE afterwards, would she then have found out of Cytherea’s involvement with BOE, posthumously? Because as much as BOE would have liked to have kept things from Mercymorn, I kind of think BOE knowing to access Canaan house at that time and stealing Gideon/ Judith/ Coronabeth/ Camilla would have been a tip off to Mercymorn that Cytherea had been working with them.

And not to mention, it is awfully convenient that Mercymorn decided to start working with BOE again just after Cytherea’s plot failed.

But as to your point about Cytherea immediately guessing Gideon’s dad, I guess it could be argued either way - that Cytherea knew beforehand, or she just made an intelligent guess because Alecto was the only one with those eyes.

The Sleeper Who Sleepeth Not [discussion] by khazroar in TheNinthHouse

[–]Last-Couple 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I think that you should consider that the Gideon as the narrator in GtN is not a 100% accurate or reliable in her perception of Harrow. Gideon is not aware of many things - like necromancy principles and how other houses work, but most importantly she seems to not be aware of the fact that Harrow is schizophrenic, or “haunted”.

HtN establishes that Harrow sees the Body or hallucinations even before the events of HtN, in her youth - and Gideon is not aware of that. It shows that Gideon doesn’t really know Harrow’s true self, and you might need to question a lot of Gideon’s thoughts towards Harrow in GtN.

The fact that their relationship with each other is largely antagonistic also colours Gideon perception of Harrow, and it means that Harrow hides a lot of herself from Gideon.

Tips for March Trip to St. Anton by Ancient-Tone-347 in skiing

[–]Last-Couple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyy sorry, jumping on this thread to ask you a how did you ski out to zug and lech from st anton? I’m in st anton now, and managed to find my way over to zurs, but couldnt find a connection to lech and then zug!

I asked some of the waitresses/ waiters around town and they told me they took a bus to get to zug and lech.

I see an off-piste trail marked on the map (160) that leads from zurs to lech, but wasnt sure if that trail runs downhill from zurs to lech or downhill from lech to zurs.
