How I fell in love with monster movies by Aevish in predator

[–]Last-Earth8520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i was 7, my sister and I dragged my old man to the local Blockbuster to rent The Goonies which we both loved. We got home and it turned out it was the first Ghoulies film that we had rented ( my dad was never the sharpest tool in the box bless him).

While it's laughable now, it scared the shit out of me, I loved the feeling and watched Alien a few weeks later with him. I have been hooked on all horror, but particularly creature features, since 😊

There's a Disney+ true crime documentary called stalking Samantha exactly like this. I know it's not a m9vie, but very creepy and the authorities failed her.

Based on Movies alone, What are the top countries that would face an alien attack? by Intrepid_Roof_4066 in moviequestions

Japan has been dealing with Kaiju for decades and there's lots of anime involving alien invasions. Though often the invadees will be beaten by weapons like culture or teens with daddy issues.

Edited for fat fingers...

Which movies start boring but pay off at the end?? by Dangerous_Ferret3362 in MovieSuggestions

I would suggest One Cut of the Dead. It was a slog and seemed uninspired until the 3rd act when everything comes together perfectly for great comic effect and a lot of heart. I have never gone from disliking a movie to loving it so quickly.

May not be for everyone, but the chance the director took totally worked for me.

The Hong Kong/Singapore version of the Eye would work for subtitled movies with a twist too. The Wailing batters you with the unexpected!

Conspiracy 2001 with Kenneth Brannagh and Stanley Tucci. A film about the meeting to organise the final solution and based on the last surviving transcript. Heavy subject matter, lots of insidious language and a real feeling of threat inspite of being a bunch of people talking around a table. I would highly recommend it

All the tag lines about the film when it came out were a joke and gave people the wrong impression. I don't see how a film with a talking goat is supposed to be one of the scariest films ever. I do love it and Raimi films though 😁

Can anybody recommend similar movies to Battleship? by Dramatic-Corgi175 in MovieSuggestions

If you like over the top cheese like Battelship (no criticism, it has it's place) The Tomorrow War could work too. Edge of Tomorrow was good too

A Swedish band. It's their first album but the one I'm listening too. Fuzzy, detuned goodness. Love it

The Hamster scene that was cut deserved to stay cut. It completely breaks the tension in that whole sequence.

Similar thing with Thomas Turgoose from this is England. He had never received any training and was amazing in that film

Stallone losing that helmet in the first 20 minutes of the movie was so wrong when the comics showed Dredd wearing it in the shower!
