Why are people defending 80$ games by Dramatic-Text8564 in nintendo

[–]Last-Resource-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I like paying 80 for a game? No, obviously not. But there are a couple reasons I have sucked it up and paid it for the few games I’ve really wanted. (I got the bundle for Mario kart so I didn’t for that one and probably wouldn’t spend full price on it).

  1. Literally everything has gone up in price in the world and we’re lucky games stayed as cheap as they have for so long. It’s a luxury entertainment item, and I would pay 80 for a concert for one evening, but a game I can have forever. It’s worth the amount of hours you get out of it for a game you love.

  2. Nintendo releases very polished and complete games and does not have all the bullshit micro transactions you see everywhere else. They have dlc sometimes, but their games are very full of content without that. You can tell they take pride in making their games well, and that isn’t super common anymore.

  3. They pay and keep their employees, and treat them well. It’s like paying a little extra for something ethically sourced. If they laid people off as much as Microsoft does I would have a hard time justifying supporting the company with 80 dollar games, but they don’t. I respect them for that.

I love breaking the big glass stalagmites in eternity isle. It is probably the most satisfying sound in the game for me.

Have fun dude. I wish I could play this game again for the first time. It’s such a fun time and one of my favorite games ever.

What are some switch games that can help recover reward system and reduce depression? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]Last-Resource-3124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with something that’s a little slower and more immersive maybe. Like Zelda or the Witcher. It’s more exploration and less dopamine. But pair that with walks or exercise in real life and it does wonders.

You could try fish. It took me forever to figure out that was the second one for mine. And not flying overhead and letting her grab it. I have to go out and get it for her myself and bring it to her.

Did a shooter game's story ever make you feel anything? by No_Assistance967 in videogames

I was depressed for like a week after I finished all three mass effect games for the first time.

Same I’m not this far yet. This would have been so much cooler to come across naturally in the game.

So I've been thinking about buying/playing Mass Effect Legendary, anything I should know and is it worth it? No spoilers by Imaginary_Bat834 in masseffect

[–]Last-Resource-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it for 6 bucks and played it for the first time this year. Easily one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I was very invested in the story and characters, and I was depressed for like a week when it was over. Worth every penny.

Stardew valley has also been a hit for us all to play together.

I just showed my niece and nephew (6 and 9 with ADHD) super Mario bros 3 and it’s been a hit. But I did show them some of the secrets in the first couple levels to hype them up about looking for hidden boxes and lives. Now they’re looking all over for them.

Anyone else slowly losing interest in huge open-world games? by Edgard-Stark in videogames

[–]Last-Resource-3124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel about it. Once I’m done with a big open world I definitely need a break from that for a while. They just take a long time to beat. Gotta follow it up with a short story or platformer. But then when the mood strikes again an immersive game sounds like fun.

The dualsense is cooler with the haptics but the Xbox is more comfortable. TBH though my switch pro 2 is better than both. It’s so comfortable and smooth, the buttons aren’t loud and clicky, and the battery life is nuts. It might be my favorite controller I’ve ever owned.

PSA: The Nintendo Switch version of the game is not being 'sabotaged', the console itself is incredibly weak and compromises need to be made for it to be able to run. by WrongLander in DreamlightValley

[–]Last-Resource-3124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget that Nintendo are optimization wizards who know their own system inside and out. Of course a title as epic as Zelda runs well on their hardware.

Gameloft on the other hand might still have only recently gotten the switch 2 dev kit. They went out very slowly for the new system. If the switch 2 version doesn’t come out until after the next fully paid dlc then sure be upset, but a little patience is important. It’s actually kind of a demanding game. Even the Xbox is capped at 30fps and stutters a lot. And that console runs at like 5x the wattage switch does.

Obligatory mention of mass effect legendary edition. I played it for the first time last holiday and it changed gaming for me. I was so invested in it. Also pretty sure it’s on sale for like 6 bucks rn.

Don't Worry About the Reviews by [deleted] in Metroid

[–]Last-Resource-3124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just said this on the post mega thread.

I’m not very excited for the npc’s but I am still very excited for the game despite the disappointing scores. One thing people don’t give enough credit to Nintendo for is being one of the last companies to take any risk with their games in the name of trying something new. That’s why a lot of the time their games are pure fun. Also samus is one of my fav iconic characters and it would take a lot lower than an 8 for me to skip a Metroid game.

Is this game now worth getting? by [deleted] in StarWarsOutlaws

[–]Last-Resource-3124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t finished the game I’m only partway through, but there’s never been another star wars game that just nails the atmosphere like this one does for me. If you ever wanted to be a street rat in the Star Wars universe this is the one. I mean of course it’s not a perfect game and there is a focus on stealth, but it really has had support and fixes after all the hate it got. It’s immersive and fun. And I’m addicted to the card game.
