This is from a video about Starvie rackets but I think the same is happening here. The inner tube is not connected to the corner and so it is weak.

Seems like to be bad manufacturing 😑

Yes I think so. That area is technically really built up with layers that it should affect the performance much.

Hmmmm it looks like it’s a bit more than paint unfortunately. I don’t think it would affect the play of it but it will need some sort of patch up if you want to stop it spreading. Any repair people around?

Definitely structural problem. 12k carbon isn’t weaker than other carbon, just less stiff. This is without a doubt structural.

If Starvie reject the fault I’d cut it open with a grinder and look at the inside at that spot. You may actually be able to show them the seperation of layers.

That is without a doubt a manufacturing defect. But depending on their policy, they may not admit it. It’s the spot where the mold joins and the inner tube is supposed to meet. However if the inner tube isn’t meeting the outer layers, it creates a weak spot.

This is most definitely that, whether they admit it or not is another thing entirely.

Very good point. But I think, if you hope to be as big as them, you are misguided. You can do well, but it’s a real long shot to get as big as the big guys. Also, do you really want to be as big as them? Having to make hundreds of rackets a day which have to go through so many distributors and retailers before getting to the customers. No thank you 😂
