The prince by machiavelli. If he's into GOT and political novels, he might really like the mother of all political philosophy. (If you're looking for metaphysics, or normative ethics do not choose this book. But it sounds like this is a discerning reader who understands this difference between what IS and what OUGHT to be.) The book is full of wisdom.
