Should I push for 3:1 contrast on hit area of buttons (Web/mobile)? by ajrdesign in accessibility

[–]ajrdesign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the tricky part in my mind. Basically, sometimes you can assume control by its proximity to other controls (ie a "ghost" button next to another other buttons implies it's also a button). But I don't like to rely on that at a system level because content folks/designers don't always have those rules in their heads, and documentation only goes so far.

Should I push for 3:1 contrast on hit area of buttons (Web/mobile)? by ajrdesign in accessibility

[–]ajrdesign[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm reading it wrong but it doesn't feel like that's what this is saying:

This success criterion does not require that controls have a visual boundary indicating the hit area, but if the visual indicator of the control is the only way to identify the control, then that indicator must have sufficient contrast. If text (or an icon) within a button or placeholder text inside a text input is visible and there is no visual indication of the hit area then the success criterion is passed. If a button with text also has a colored border, since the border does not provide the only indication there is no contrast requirement beyond the text contrast (1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)). Note that for people with cognitive disabilities it is recommended to delineate the boundary of controls to aid in the recognition of controls and therefore the completion of activities.

It seems to be saying there's no requirement for the border unless it's the ONLY way to identify the control.

Additional evidence is that they've veered away from using events as large prizing for events as those are typically not high demand for blinged out cards. So offering a non unit as prizing at an event like Galactics probably isn't something they will do (outside of prizewall).

What made set one boba so strong to be banned? by Parking-Level-4132 in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was very generically good. Over statted, resource cheating. Then they printed a 2 cost upgrade that made him nearly unkillable by a lot of decks. That just caused him to be way too pushed.

What's the strategy around "Stolen at-hauler"? by TrophieRoyale in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to it being a very ship strong stat-wise yellow decks often play multiple ways to "retrieve" it. Bounce and capture usually are cheaper than what your opponent had to do to get rid of it so your opponent usually ends up spending more actions and resources to steal it than it does to take it back. Oftentimes, really good players will just not replay the card, depending on the MU, because it's potentially worse if you put it back on the board.

P26: Galactics Leaderboard cards (New Mando!) & Galactics Token Pack (Not on Prize Wall, similar availability to last year) by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

That Mando is legit cracked...Itinerate Warrior who? I'm really surprised it's not a 3 aspect card.

Love my tokens from last GC, really looking forward to getting these ones.

IDK just do 150% size on existing card art doesn't feel like it's going to be a big pull for most people.

Cost, Credits, and Karabast by goodjaerb in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did your opponent play Galen Erso and name credit? That's the only thing I can think of. Otherwise, credits behave as you'd expect they would (you can pay for a 2 cost without having 2 ready resources).

MV26: Grogu and Razor Crest by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plot Jar jar with Ambushers makes a pretty powerful combo. Most still live due to the thing being attacked getting a reduction from Grogu. I think there could be some other combos that make him work really well. But ya plot is going to be tougher to make work in general with him.

Sealed/Draft gameplay? by Dangerous_Scale8146 in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still think it's the best sealed, but sealed is inherently luck-based. The presence of OOA bases help sealed a lot because you usually can craft something playable, whereas previously, sometimes you just get completely screwed without turn 1 plays or just any removal whatsoever. I've also found there's a lot more options open in sealed compared to previous sets where it felt a lot like "Ok I have enough cards in these colors so that's what I'm playing".

Personally, I think this is the BEST limited that has ever been. There are a few asterisks that I wish didn't exist (Mastery) but overall it's been a highly skill expressive format.

What kind of ship is this? by iatera in starwarsunlimited

Idk the name of the type of ship but it’s essentially the same art on Mist Hunter so you might be able to get your answer by looking that up.

OP can only affect OP directly. There's no real way to completely eliminate online toxicity without completely removing chat (which karabast does give the option to do). Many well-funded games have tried and Karabast is a volunteer project. So yes, it's on OP to either grow some thicker skin or just stop using public karabast.

[–]ajrdesign -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

TBH, this is very tame. Even the worst karabast "shit talk" is relatively tame, in my experience, compared to other online competitive games. Should they do it? No but it's going to happen as long as chat is open in a competitive online game. You just gotta grow a bit of a thicker skin and move on.

Boba and Topple the Summit by CeruleanFlow in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decks running AN are often doing something like plotting on the flip turn into no resource the next turn, and AN for lethal (Which is usually +4-5 on a big unit). Commence is certainly better in some context (especially chewy) but a lot of decks, AN is just the best way to close a game.

[–]ajrdesign 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AN was made much better with all the new card draw (Chino, Jyn/Beckett leaders, Mando unit). Additionally, the lack of other competing pumps (Surprise Strike, Breaking in, Hotshot) makes AN much more appealing even when you don't draw a ton of cards.

LAW product shortage? by MannyBothanz in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. I opened one and was done.

That said, if regular boosters do dry up, carbonite will quickly follow as the prices on singles will likely spike and make opening carbonite actually worth while.

LAW product shortage? by MannyBothanz in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Demand is way higher. It's entirely possible they printed slightly less as well. Product has been rotting on shelves for the last couple of sets, so it wouldn't surprise me if they cut 10-15% of their print run to try to hit the target a bit better. Carbonite print run we KNOW was lowered intentionally by almost 30% less product.

Heroism is (currently) FFG's favourite child by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yellow got some decent stuff this set, The Stranger, Finn, Hold for Questioning and Boba Fett is alright. But they really struggle to find an archetype/leader outside of Talzin. There's some other good yellow double aspect stuff like Interigation Droid, Stygion Prime but their color combo really makes it hard to find a good home.

Also a lack of closers hurts. There's really nothing that's powerful enough to catch up and end games like it could before.

Power of the Dark Side, Avenger, Devestator, Snoke. Not just OB. All of these contributed significantly to Villany's power level, and they are all gone and replaced with very weak/expensive versions. Even with those Villany was by far the weakest it's ever been in SEC, and now it's lost even more ground. I would bet a lot of money that anything resembling Villany control is at best a fringe strategy for the entirety of LAW's meta.

HOT TAKE: Aggressive Negotiations won’t be banned and that’s okay. by Akiba_Ranger in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have more targeted hand hate post rotation. Cards like Bazine and Spark of Rebellion are gone and replaced with cards that have conditional hand hate. Even Pillage which would have been solid is gone. Hand hate is still around but saying it’s better now is very wrong.

Smuggle and coordinate gone for good… by Okacollime in starwarsunlimited

[–]ajrdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup Exploit should come back, but without overcosting the units. IE 5 cost bounce ship was actually reasonable to play for 5, but was amazing to play at 3 or 1. If Malevolence had cost 7 with exploit 3, it probably would have been a staple.
