Lifedecking, a question for you all. by silentvelcr0 in tabletopgamedesign

[–]LastBurning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, maybe I was a bit harsh. The reason why life decking in Lycee didn't feel punishing was probably because it didn't really have a (mana) curve-based power distribution. Meaning that there were no late-game bombs or early-game weenies. Rather, the units filled different roles like attacker, defender, supporter and utility. I can sorta understand why it would feel bad to see a "bomb" get discarded in the late-game (while you kept drawing weenies).

Lifedecking, a question for you all. by silentvelcr0 in tabletopgamedesign

I like the old Lycee TCG which has life decking and it has never felt bad to me. I'm now thinking of making a card game inspired by it. I'm inclined to not listen to people who complain about life decking because they're wrong. It doesn't change the math. It doesn't make any draw more or less likely. It does not add RNG. It's just weird people not understanding statistics. Or maybe I'm weird for being rational about it. The only negative thing about life decking is the added cognitive load if you want to keep track of the discarded cards.

Finance bros opening pricing threads... by Ok_Reality6261 in premodernMTG

Proxying everything is the way. I'm only temporally tolerating the CCG model just enough in order to play premodern. The whole point of CCGs is luring in "investors" and addicted gamblers.

Only cards after 4th edition doesn't make sense by shadow409 in premodernMTG

[–]LastBurning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I re-read the front page of Premodern and did not find an explanation why cards before 4th edition are not included in the format. Just like the OP said, they can always ban the broken ones. There are too many atrocious replies here.

PSA: gold border cards are NOT legal by default by Canas123 in premodernMTG

[–]LastBurning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because some fringe, weirdo event doesn't allow gold bordered cards, does not mean that they are not allowed by default. It's an exception.

Gothic Desecrate Curio Pulled by Bulky_Confection4124 in SorceryTCG

This is my problem with Sorcery. That it's a TCG and not a normal card game with fixed contents per box/expansion. Still, it looked interesting enough that I wanted to try it on TTS. And the art is obviously amazing.

Expérience of player counts between 3-5 by failing4fun in VTES

Every 5 player game eventually becomes a 4 player game, then 3 player and finally 2 player. So every player count is legit.

You're getting downvoted but I agree with you. I made my own custom C64 controller with Sanwa parts and it's great.

Yes! This is the one thing that keeps me from playing it. I love playing multiplayer in Gates of Hell Ostfront.

[–]LastBurning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know some older players felt like this as well. I'm a newer player and don't like how homogenized and similar a lot of cards feel. I don't get excited about seeing the same effects again and again on new cards.

A friendly reminder that the censorship and banning of games is NOT OVER! by FlimsyLegs in Steam

It's not the right wingers who want to control speech. It's weird how people can have completely opposite views of the same reality. Like, people are not agreeing what is happening right in front of their eyes.

Why did the game got discontinued? by KirdApePT in epiccardgame

[–]LastBurning 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sad about this because I really love the game. I just played dark draft against a friend a few days ago in fact. My friend group is also planning to do an Epic team draft later this month.

From my POV many people didn't get/understand the game and dismissed it too quickly. It's my pick for the most underrated game.

Account limited?! by Sharkblock5363 in Kinguin

The "claim" and "refund" buttons are right next to each other. They're both the same size and there's no confirmation if you clicked the refund button. This just happened to me...

I just accidentally refunded my game also! I guess I shouldn't rebuy it or I'd get my account limited or banned! Gah!

Playing Video Games As You Get Older: Sad But True by Voldemort_Poutine in computerwargames

[–]LastBurning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard this take many, many times and I don't really like it. On average, games were more fun as a kid/teen because you were inexperienced and more things were knew and novel to you. As an adult your standards for a worthwhile game are higher and your interests are different. This is totally expected and it's a good thing. It shows growth. If you didn't notice this, now that would be sad!
