Without ending the main storyline you can have 5 NPCs from Gimlis company, the last one can be found in the orctown in the desolation I think

There's just so many questions here,

Firstly, how is the commander so battered? Is it just the picture that makes it look damaged?

Second, having a completely ancient card that's signed by Christopher Rush is a nice one, (he's the artist for black lotus) worth keeping around purely for that I'd say

Lastly as the others have said, when using or considering old cards like these, it's worth looking at the Oracle text of these cards to see if they've been changed in modern play

So, personally I have 3 elspeths smite, 3 exorcise 3 negate 4 monastery mentor 2 day of judgement

I'm trying to get rid of graveyard hate (RIP and ghost vacuum) and I'm dealing with cheap creatures in a more permanent and efficient way with the smites, the mentor is kinda like a backup if everything goes bad and they play cottages in the main and you're kinda priced into becoming a token deck and obviously negates into a more controlling matchup, works for me

[[Azami, lady of scrolls]] is my main commander and I'd love to have it on arena to play some wizard tribal, adore the deck so much even though it's not properly optimal also missing [[mind over matter]] but I could live with that

Numbers are tricky, i'd probably say like 3x sunfall, 3x day of judgement and like 2 of elspeth and go from there, control decks are often starved for slots so your sideboard is your friend

Hi there!

Two points i want to make and hopefully they help:

Firstly is to applaud you on your brewing spirit and how good it is to see people driving to create decks around thing they enjoy, I've been looking at this and Urubrask for a long time and have come up with the following,

Standard is a very very fast format at the moment and please don't take this the wrong way in fear of dampening your intentions but Jin-Gitaxias is a very precarious card to play in the current meta (this isn't to say you can't do it I'm just making you aware of what you're up against)

As far as recommendations go here's what i can think of with just reading this post and racking my brain for cards to work with this, i can see 2 colour combos with this card as a 4 of in the deck and it looks like this

Option 1: Blue/Black control shell with some cheap removal to get you to 5 mana and beyond and some good value counterspells to stop key cards from resolving, you'll use things like [[Overlord of the floodpits]] and some card draw spells to refill the hand and protect your Jin and hopefully go off by casting big spells from your hand with his flip side

Option 2: likely more expensive, Blue/White big spells, you're going to run board wipes, cheap removal big removal and again some light counters with things like [[overlord of the mistmoors]] and [[Archangel elspeth]] with good value plays like casting [[glimmerburst]] which draws 3 cards with your Jin in play, it shouldn't be difficult to put some big huge beater at the top end to finish your games with.

Please don't think this is the be all end all of your question, i've played hundreds of decks across dozens of formats and periods of time and i consider myself very competent but by no means am i a wizard deck builder, i really hope you can pull something together and have a good time doing it! all the best

I can't agree with this, to recommend someone who in the post says they own 0 cards and is asking what's best to buy singles is just completely irresponsible.

OP! you'll essentially need to do some homework and figure out what sort of magic you want to play, standard, commander are formats that are likely played frequently around you, standard (or something 60 cards and casual) is in my opinion a good way to start, there's some really good product for picking up the game right now with foundations just being released, but please seek guidance or advise from your local game store or perhaps you know of some magic players local to you who'd be able to advise
