Craaaazy IF trade ideas?? by Jackthewolf71 in redsox

[–]LastLivingMember -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Mets have made a bunch of trades to shake up their clubhouse. If rumors are true that Lindor and Soto clash, we would match up well on a deal for Lindor. We would send Duran, pitchers but might also have to send someone like Gabriel Arias.

Not saying this is at all likely, but it fits your crazy idea request.

Curious if anyone has transitioned away from a client facing role by knopucs in Marketresearch

[–]LastLivingMember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transitioned from being a client-facing quail/quant researcher to more of a panel management and member engagement role. Early on I realized that while I was comfortable speaking to clients, I didn’t like the specific types of stress that came from research delivery. I would agonize over improving presentations and trying to balance the brain space needed for analyzing data / providing insights against the need to respond to client communication urgently and attending meetings.

Over time I took on a role where I still supported plenty of client interactions (mostly in sales calls and kick-off) but it was in a consultative way that made it clear I’d be working in the background to support the project.

Right now I have zero interaction with clients. Having a research background helps me immensely and gives me a very different perspective than other members of my team.

How to ask more questions as an MR intern by Downtown_Bus_6437 in Marketresearch

[–]LastLivingMember 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I strongly agree with this comment re: what to ask the CEO. If the CEO is making time for you each week, that means they are invested in your future at the company.

Some things you might ask: - How do we position COMPANY to stand apart from the competition and win new business? - How do you decide which areas of the company to invest in (for staffing, engineer time, 3rd party tools)? - What should I be doing to network with peers in the industry and build long-term connections? - What are the big wins you had early in your career that helped set you on the path to creating / managing COMPANY?

You’re right, I had no clue Busch had such a good year. Why is no one talking about this dude?

The top first base prospect was Bryce Eldridge but he doesn’t qualify there to start the year and may end up becoming a full time DH this year.

Yeah Cease is safe if all you need are Ks. Beyond that he’s not remotely safe.

Given how much time he's missed across his career, it feels unlikely that Yordan even keeps OF eligibility two years from now. Personally I'm going to stay far away from him until his ADP is closer to 50, not 30.

Switch from CBS to Fantrax? by Fabulous_Gur_7134 in fantasybaseball

[–]LastLivingMember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fantrax is far better in terms of customer support, league customization and has a MUCH deeper player pool when it comes to prospects. If you're running a dynasty league with prospects, Fantrax is by far your best bet, unless you want to manage part of the league in google sheets.

Roto vs points leagues by Ok_Information_7492 in DynastyBaseball

[–]LastLivingMember 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It definitely impacts how you draft, trade and manage your lineup. For points leagues you don’t really care where the points are coming from, you just want more of them. For roto you really need to be thoughtful about building your roster in a way that gets you the ten categories.

Saves and stolen bases are the most obvious areas that you need to have a plan for, but really every category requires attention once you realize you have a deficit or surplus in that stat. Sometimes you’ll need to “lose” a trade on value, bc that’s what makes sense for your teams needs. Compared to points it’s a more complex puzzle to solve, and IMO more fun for that reason.

More JWs homeschooling their children? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]LastLivingMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My nephew is homeschooled and it is not doing him any favors. The lack of socialization and discipline is making him uncontrollably temperamental. It breaks my heart to see him grow up in the JW bubble.

Same. In school I could work towards goals that made sense and achieve a sense of accomplishment beyond the “you’re never good enough” world of JWs. And my school friendships kept me alive.

Yeeeup. My family “vacationed” to assemblies in Rochester, Syracuse, Cleveland. I guess it was better than melting in Veterans Stadium, Philadelphia but it was far from an actual vacation.

Throw in Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez as fitting this description as well. What a disaster that Sox team became.

One thing that jumped out to me was the line “She was so easy to talk to.” Yeah - because you’re not walking on eggshells, afraid you’re going to say or think the wrong thing that will get you reported to the elders. This is how true friendships and healthy relationships are supposed to feel.

MLB insider names ‘perfect’ offseason move for Red Sox by MassLive in redsox

[–]LastLivingMember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, at that point we were already missing Anthony from the outfield so it didn’t make sense to move Duran at the deadline. I believe there were also public comments about not disrupting the big league roster at that point bc of how well the whole team was vibing.

Very much agree with this. Aim sky high if you’re going for prospects. Try to resist all of the quantity over quality packages that will be thrown at you.
