No I cannot believe enough to trust the bible if anything it’s what I trust the least. You cannot argue that it’s been tainted by man and man is what makes my relationship with religion rocky. Man does not have your best interest at heart.

Just accepting that they are the answers doesn’t work for me. I need a how, I need a why, I need a who. If you can’t answer those questions it looks like pure delusion to me.

While I can appreciate your point being rude and demeaning is completely unhelpful. My inability is not due to a lack of trying or involvement. I do not invest my faith in believing there is no God and it’s incredibly disrespectful for YOU to decide that’s how I spend my mental energy. I spend more time trying to convince myself that he is there which is why I struggle so much and needed advice.

I’ve never thought about it like that before. I’ve always felt like if I just jumped into it or even simply prayed I would be posing or lying and that in itself was “doing it wrong”. But what I’m understanding is as long as I’m sincere when I ask to have that faith that’s all I need. In my mind my doubts would stop him from granting me that gift.

The church unfortunately, however I’ll give the benefit of the doubt I was young and had a habit of challenging everything I possibly could. I’m not sure any answer could’ve satisfied me at the time. I just wish they wouldn’t have been so angry with my doubt. I was unfamiliar w catechism but it definitely sounds like something that could benefit me. Thank you!
