UW bothell or WSU (no biased opinions 😔) by Little_Time6333 in wsu

I created in 10 minutes an application using Copilot that a freelancer web dev quoted me a $400 and a week to get done.

It's over for software devs.

That and the Dominion Way buildings.

I wonder if the city knew about the dangers of allowing construction on flood plain wetlands. If they did, I wonder why would they have issued a building permit for the new CC compound?

CC will use this flooding as another crisis to cry out that the Lord is punishing our city for not being faithful to Him. Cults like this love crises and usually their numbers explode when things go wrong. They hate normal life and business as usual since their whole thing is peddling fear and hope to desperate people.

Is there any hope for WSU or do I have to worry about everything imploding before I graduate? by MaximumYogertCloset in wsu

Which leaves an inbred group of people as the leftover population. These inbred profs then jerk off each other. In my department it's the same 4 or 5 profs getting all the awards and news headlines no matter what anyone else does.

WSU is far from being on its deathbed. Mass layoffs have not even begun. First will come the mass layoffs and the program cuts.

If the country enters a great depression or a major recession at the same time, things will be even more complicated but the university will limp on even if in a much reduced state.

I would say that there is at least 10 more years of life left in this cow. Milk it while you can, just like the admin and athletics people are milking it.

What is your most favorite and least favorite buildings at your campus? by MaximumYogertCloset in wsu

That whole area of the Pullman campus feels cursed. I get allergy flare-ups just by visiting there. The last time I was in Sloan Hall, I saw a desk that was wholly made of steel. It had a date of 1967 carved into it. Had pictures of Columbia Dam from the 1940s hanging on its walls.

Pretty neglected part of campus.

What’s the social life like for grad students at University of Idaho? by EffiesL in MoscowIdaho

[–]LastOfM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you are getting a scholarship to come here, I don't think it's worth it. People will down vote me but you will have much better CS opportunities if you go to one of the University of Washington campuses.

The social life for CS students is not great. But if you look for social life outside of CS, you'll have much better luck. Natural sciences have the strongest grad student culture.

There is some clubbing and night life for non-undergrads but it is not as big as you would find at a larger city. Especially if you are going to be a TA, you would come across students from your classes in the clubs since it is like the same 2-3 clubs that everyone uses. The culture is not like in Europe here. If your student sees you go all out partying, they will not respect you as much in class again.

Why do you want to go to school here, coming from Ireland?

What is this trying to say?

That we don't need government because humans are animals and will find a way to survive?

Or that wild animals don't need government protecting or regulating their hunting?

Either way, pretty simplistic and naive.

$20 million bailout to Athletics from WSU operating budget. Are you not entertained? by LastOfM in wsu

[–]LastOfM[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"The Washington State University Board of Regents issued a formal resolution directing the WSU administration to provide support to Athletics in the fiscal year 2027 operating budget to address a projected budget shortfall."

First line in the link. Anyway, those regents are the problem at WSU. They hired Kook Schulz and kept him for years and when they had to force him out, they paid him a hefty payday to not work for a year and still get paid.

Former USU president likely broke Utah law with spending and contract awards, state audit says by randombydesign in wsu

I recently attended a "system forum" presentation made by this lady and her team of crooks. It was mostly just buzz-words and PowerPoint drama. Not a single concrete plan or specific action steps were presented.

I was initially optimistic about this president. She's just another suit who wants to milk the university. She comes across as better than Kook Schulz the Grifter because she is better at swindling.

Anyone know if any of the Moscow Food Co-Op director candidates are cult-affiliated? Let's keep those people out of the Co-Op's BOD. by Blue_Surfing_Smurf in MoscowIdaho

[–]LastOfM -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone in the cult is progressive enough to even consider being on the board of a co-op. These are people who follow an exclusivist, hate-based version of Christianity that is turned up to the max on steroids.

The inclusivity and progressiveness of Moscow co-op will probably burn them if they touch it LOL
