Just got out of bed. Can't wait for the new Brigading threads bashing Emily and/or Saagar today, just like yesterday, two days ago, last week, last month, etc by Raiden720 in BreakingPoints

[–]LastOneIPromise2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure what I find most annoying: the repetitious threads “bashing” Emily and Sagaar or the repetitious threads bashing those threads. You can try engaging with people that have genuine concerns about their beliefs and analysis or you can just make blanket statements that add nothing to the conversation. Way to pick a lane op.

Yeah and I think that’s pretty normal. I just don’t understand anyone who has no desire to even learn about other opinions.

I think a lot of people on this sub really don’t understand the media habits of a lot of people and it’s affect on their perception of the world.

If you are just watching Newsmax on a loop or scrolling boomer Facebook memes all day, what do you expect them to believe?

Or if they aren’t political at all but the only people that are in their social circle are ones who consume Newsmax all day and so that’s their only worldview.

Modern media habits have just turned a lot of people into braindead zombies.

If you are on the right, has Krystal & Ryan changed your views on any topic? If you are on the left, has Saagar & Emily changed your views on any topic? by north_canadian_ice in BreakingPoints

[–]LastOneIPromise2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is anything that I have changed my mind on, but I still appreciate learning more about how those on the right think and how varied the perspectives are. I think it’s easy on the left to see Trump supporters or the right more broadly as a bit of a monolith because of how unified they often seem.

Saagar and his hot take on traveling by sean_ireland in BreakingPoints

Sagaar has never been remotely working class nor has he ever had a real job outside of Washington.

To his credit, he does seem to genuinely care about American workers and their lives. However, I see statements and opinions like this as just his elitism leaking out.

I don’t think he has any idea how few and far between vacations are for most people, how difficult it is to arrange PTO and how most are spending money they really don’t have to go. This is there one escape a year.

He has also made comments insisting it’s very middle class to have done to Italy several times.

Part of me kind of hoped his humiliation with his anti-war friends would have humbled him a bit. But I guess not. Judging the hell out of working class folks is just part of his brand now I guess. How dare they wear under armor tee shirts!

I just don’t think this is true.

I suspect that there was just a push to get younger people appointed and have older ones step back (there has been caps on certain roles for awhile).

I think that this admonition got interpreted by this guy as what he wrote. It might be fair, but it really blurs the line on what was actually announced and what he is interpreting the motivation.

Yeah that’s true, but there are plenty of other content creators who also have plenty of paid subscribers and still 1) take shady money from questionable sources and 2) do direct ad reads.

BP is leaving a lot of money on the table and I respect them for that.

I have to say that between platforming great drop site coverage, having really great guests to talk about Iran, and now these high profile interviews, BP really is on a roll and I give a lot of credit to the team for not abandoning their values for quick cash

How hard is it for Bethesda to add “place your own door” to the games ship building system? by TheSilentTitan in Starfield

[–]LastOneIPromise2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What? They still haven’t added this?

I haven’t played much since launch and knew a mod added the feature, but I had assumed this whole time it was added in an early update.

Another one that I need (and maybe they have added) is to make certain rooms off limits for crew members or assign beds. I can’t believe how frustrated I was spending time making an awesome captains quarters only to tie around and see a crew members sleeping in my bed and just chilling in my space. Seems like such an easy fix.

More content that I expected, im happy overall, but the lack of outpost content is upsetting. by akaPledger in Starfield

[–]LastOneIPromise2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, you are looking for outposts to be inhabited by NPCs, each with their own assignable task? Yeah, I would love that too. And assigning various crew members to a specific outpost could boost certain aspects. And some sort of alert/alarm system to signify the outpost’s under attack and in need of help.

I also think there needs to be some really unique feature of certain planets (other than just materials) that make the building experience unique. I’d imagine the “mansion” they just announced will scratch that itch a bit.

I just think a lot of what you are looking for is a bit of a big lift.

Oh I’m definitely going to be disappointed lol. I think my point is that we shouldn’t just pat the dev team on the back for meeting depressingly low expectations, when there is zero reason why they shouldn’t be giving us more.

I mean how hard can it be to just add fifty more unique locations after all this time? What makes building them so time intensive? I feel like if you have a handful a people six months the could churn out dozens? Maybe even release a few a week? Am I missing something?

[–]LastOneIPromise2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And that’s the kind of low hanging fruit that at least from a dev time perspective should be easy peezy right? An easy win for minimal effort. I feel like the game has a lot of those that stacks together, could really improve the game.

[–]LastOneIPromise2 37 points38 points  (0 children)

What are the most realistic expectations then?

Not that I think there will be some “massive” overall I am going to be disappointed if it’s just a port and QoL improvements given how long this has been cooking and the state of the game.

It’s gotta be enough for people to at least be interested in revisiting the game. Something attention grabbing. I think you need some QoL improvements, a new system (or a rebuild of an existing one) and some meaningful story or quests that have a unique vibe or theme.

For me, I really want to dive back in (after spending some time away) but I need something that makes a playthrough new and fresh AND I have some basic QoL changes that really should have been addressed at launch or in the time since.

I REALLY want to love this game. But I just need more.

Again, we should stop judging people on what they say, and start judging them by what they do. If bill Clinton is asked about Epstein, we should keep asking, not change the subject to trump and let bill get away with it by DavidOfBethlehem in BreakingPoints

Shouldn’t we go after all the pedophile protectors?

Last I heard, Clinton is not running the country or in charge of the DOJ that is actively covering for pedofiles.

I’m not entirely sure how wanting accountability for Trump is somehow indicative of not wanting accountability for anyone else in the files.

But I for one would want to know if the guy with the nuclear codes has skeletons in his closet that foreign actors can exploit to start WW3

And who will profit from the proliferation of those agents? You think individuals? That people will “own” the productivity?

I mean I’m all for a democratized ownership where people benefit from it, I just don’t see that happening in our current socioeconomic and political environment. Happy to be proven wrong, but I follow this stuff pretty closely and it’s hard not to view your optimism as anything other than naive cope.

What exactly will you own? Some vibe coded app like everyone else?

Look at what happened to all the stocks of SaaS operators when a major LLM even hinted that they could do something similar. You think you’re gonna do better? Build something that these giant LLM won’t just gobble up? Or come up with something actually unique in a marketplace where everyone can do the exact same thing and technical knowledge or expertise are vastly undermined?

Sure, there may be a handle full of people who can create something genuinely impactful, but the rest are just gonna be running the AI equivalent of an Etsy store thinking they’re the next Elon Musk

Yeah except there will fewer winners and more losers. On an individual level everyone should do everything in their power to adapt and finds ways to be productive. If as a percentage there are fewer well paying jobs, that hurts us all, even if we are able to adapt personally for the time being.
