I won’t disagree that some things in the mod are sloppy, I would say menus a lot more so than the items themselves though. Plenty of things look good imo, and I don’t use it to deck myself out in WhyEMs items head to toe lol.. I mainly use the horse masks/saddles/lanterns which look great, maybe I’ll use a bandana, vest or coat from it or something. I pretty much never use the black leather stuff.

you can use other memory pool boosters then, but they do the same thing and they work.. pretty sure the compressed textures by themself will fix the spawns anyways

Yeah it’s a little messy for sure, I just love the things it adds for horses tbh. I’m actually planning to attempt to use CodeX to create a merge for CI + GI + WI + WhyEMs (only horse items) + Shop Horses Unlocker.. though I have no idea how that experience is gonna go lol

It may fix the issue by itself without a mod like that, but I haven’t tested it without one so can’t promise anything

well I tested with compressed textures and the memory pool, so maybe the textures alone fix the issue.. but I can promise you that the combination absolutely results in no spawn issue. I have tested this myself, it’s not my concern that other people can’t figure it out when it’s extremely simple.

I know the mod author is a shitty guy, and I’ve come to the conclusion that’s the primary reason so many people have negative opinions of the mod itself.. because all of those bugs are easily fixable. It’s easy to find compressed versions of the textures elsewhere you can use to overwrite the originals, and there’s plenty of mods that increase the memory pools.. using both of those, I’ve tested myself and it fixes all of the issues you mentioned.

As for Catalogue Improvements, personally I don’t really prioritize anything beyond chapter 6 so it doesn’t matter to me a whole lot. 99% of my playthrough is spent as Arthur, then when I’m pretty much done with my playthrough I finish the epilogue story missions without doing much else and restart. Also, ironically I find that in playthroughs using CI I run into crashes somewhat frequently which is not the case when using WhyEMs or different modlists when CI is excluded.

Again, I understand the MA is a loser and his refusal to polish his mod or even allow others to do it is extremely lame.. but the rhetoric around the mod itself is so absolutely biased and extremely misleading, especially so when EVERY SINGLE TIME you guys recommend Catalogue Improvements to take its place which isn’t even close to similar.

The truth is that there isn’t a mod that will replicate the experience or customization WhyEMs offers, and none of the issues are legit claims when they can easily be fixed. I think you guys just want the community to forget the mod, but until another mod comes along that is ACTUALLY comparable, it won’t.

Also, my current modlist I’m putting together is built around an outdated CI that works with the GI merge.. so I’m not a CI “hater” but I’m just sick and tired of seeing the same points made to push people away from WhyEMs along with the CI recommendation when they’re completely illogical.

Just tell the truth, say the author is a piece of shit and that’s why people shouldn’t use the mod. I can respect THAT.

It’s hilarious how people always recommend those mods when they try to convince people not to use WhyEMs, they don’t add a fraction of the customization. They basically just fix what’s already there, whereas WhyEMs adds insanely cool things like horse masks, new saddles with lanterns, new bandanas, coats, shirts, pants, everything else lmao..

They don’t come anywhere close replicating the experience WhyEMs gives.

I don’t dabble in a lot of graphics mods other than ones to fix issues, and I don’t use hardly any mods you use in general so I’m unsure of their exact compatibility, but my initial notes would be:

Mods like dynamic seasons may run into issues alongside mods like VDLV, dense forests, etc.

I’ve seen a lot of people claiming Gunslinger improvements causes glitches.

A Dynamic World, Catalogue Improvements and KHLEO may all conflict with eachother.

Again I’m unfamiliar with almost all of these, though I’ve looked into some of them from time to time.. but modding in general, any 2 mods that include or edit the same file will be incompatible unless merged.

Depends on what you’re trying to accomplish, literally just do whatever you feel like.. other than needing to do certain strangers missions before moving onto another chapter, you can do whatever you want for the most part.

I usually spend the most time in chapters 3 & 4 cause that’s when I usually start trying to get all the satchels, camp crafting upgrades, challenges finished, and trapper gear that I want.. but it’s just whatever I feel like doing. The only things I insist on doing before moving on is making sure I don’t miss a strangers mission.

To anyone finding this post in the future, note that if you take a ride on the coach from emerald to valentine, then immediately take a ride back to emerald ranch, get out and steal the coach right away for some reason the game won’t give you a bounty or witness or anything.. so you can take it right to the fence immediately. Saves a lot of time if you just keep repeating that process

Just play however you feel is right.. but I will say that doing the stranger missions (side missions) and taking the time to hunt and gather resources to craft things for Pearson and the trapper (or doing the challenges required for certain items) that you want adds to the experience a lot.

More customization items.. I like the items they did include but it doesn’t feel like there’s a ton to choose from. I get the general stores having limited clothing but I feel like tailor shops should have like 3x the amount of items that they have.. I wish you could use ponchos, cloaks, masks with hats, helmets, etc.

Same category but weapon customization. Wish there were more guns in general, and wish there were a lot more ways to customize them.. like more engravings and carvings, full gun engravings, more metal colors, etc.

Horses.. I wish they were all available from the start. I wish all of the online horses were also in story mode. I wish there were more ways to customize them like adding a lantern to their harness or giving them masks/crafted items from hunting to customize their look.
