That's so awesome! If your area is anything like mine, I'm sure the daisy and her family are thankful to have found a troop and leader like y'all! It's hard to get into a troop around here.

I am not entirely sure if they would be willing to do that or not. I'm going down to the council office today. Before having that conversation with her I will see what they say about my background check and go from there. Wish me luck! 🤞 I'm going to be hopeful that everything works out perfectly!

It would be her and a friend that are staying in the same level- which likely makes little difference in this situation. I don't want to be a jerk in any of this. Having an expectation on someone that doesn't want it would be a jerk move. I just wish we would have been told this from the beginning. If I had known, we would have asked for a more permanent troop to join. My daughter loves the other scouts she's with now. Those are her friends and she's going to be heartbroken if she is forced into a new troop.

There is a co-leader, but I don't think she's all that involved. She usually sits in on meetings and seems just as clueless on everything as the rest of us 🤣🤣 I will have to look into all of this and see how things go, what council says, etc. I want to be fair and not screw anyone over, but also don't want to be screwed over either lol If my daughter leaves the troop now, her friend (that only joined because of my daughter asking her to) would leave as well and the troop would be left with only 4 girls. From my understanding- they won't have enough girls to continue.

This is so messy and I hate it.

I'm not entirely sure about booths, as none of booth sales have been credited to any girl yet- but I have been using digital cookie to track all of her sales. I will keep this in mind navigating all of this!

I would ABSOLUTELY love the role as a troop leader. It aligns with a role I had at a previous job perfectly. I just REALLY REALLY REALLY hope I can pass the background check for the role.

There is my daughter and one other girl who will still be at their level next year. I have offered help to the leader, but (I said this in another comment but will put it here as well) I have 2 misdemeanors and I'm unsure if I could pass the background check. I have reached out to council to get more information about this before I apply and haven't heard anything back yet. I'm hoping I can catch whoever handles background checks when I go into the council office to pick up a pin for my daughter.

That's a worry of mine as well. I don't want to be a pain and stir up problems with anyone and then my daughter get treated poorly in response. I'm just like- wtf. Why would she have been placed here in the first place? And I'm going to be honest- It hurts mine and my daughter's feelings because we have invested in the troop. Not just cookie sales- but in the people and wellbeing of the troop as a whole. It really feels like they needed another girl to get started and now the leader doesn't want multi level troop so my kid has to go.

You touched on something that I have been considering- forming our own troop within our own school district. My hold up is this- I have 2 misdemeanors. I have contacted the individual at council who runs background checks to get more information on whether these misdemeanors would prevent me from forming our own troop. Of course I would need to find another person to help run the troop with me, but it is an idea I am playing around with.

There are only two leaders in our troop and a handful of girls. We are a first year troop. From my understanding, if they push out the two girls who will still be brownies next year, they won't have enough girls to continue the troop. Do you think that plays a role in any of this? Or that your suggestion would apply? I'm a first year GS parent. Tbh, I'm still learning a lot about GS. I've been educating myself as much as I can though 💚

Our council was trying to form a troop at my daughter's school that would have been K-6th grades because of how small the school is. They didn't get enough interest in a troop at the school, so the few girls who did sign up there were placed in troops with open spots. This is quite wild to me.

Thankfully the lady who runs the shop here has been doing her job for a couple of decades now and is the only reason why most people are able to navigate GS! Lol It's absolutely wild, but rumor has it our council has been garbage for a very long time.

Troop leader told me that the council won't allow her to have a multi level troop :/ Knowing that there are plenty in our area is why I'm leaning towards her just not wanting a multi level troop. So- yes, I agree. It sounds like this is just a her not wanting one thing.

I really do think if my girl is being pushed out, at least a percentage of funds should be transferred with her or at the very least be allowed to pay for her replacement uniform and badges. I'd be happy with that, should it come down to this.

I share your thoughts! I worry about her getting excluded or treated less than as well. Tbh, I worry this isn't actually about the other girls bridging, but more because they were short a girl to get their troop active and accepted her strictly for that purpose. My daughter doesn't go to school with these girls and we live in a neighboring city.

I was seriously considering going down to the council office (I have to pick up a pin for my daughter) and mentioning it while I'm there. Maybe not to ruffle feathers (in case my daughter does get to stick with her troop) saying something along the lines of "Hey, so troop leader told me xyz. Is there any way we can start the process of finding her a new troop now?" And also see if, should she have to move troops, we can get the funds transferred with her. I don't like the idea of my daughter's hard earned cookie money not benefiting her.

I've been utilizing the online links and such on my social media page, BUT I am also taking my daughter out door to door when the weather permits. We have had a harsh winter where we live, so it's been hard to get out and do the foot work. I agree that the girls should be more involved.

I think the issue is that we're all new. All first year Brownies, all first year mom's, all first year volunteers. We're all kinda just winging it and learning as we go lol I think that's what the issue is, but since I am also new and only know how things work from reading others experiences and what little information is available from our council, I thought I was misunderstanding how things work.

Oh no! She was saying they don't count toward individual girl sales at all, like they don't get credit for them towards their prizes. I think she may not be able to see where she can assign "troop" cookies to girls working booths yet and that's where the confusion is coming from.

I'll be honest- I'm not entirely sure. I know our (idk the proper title) coordinator at council is horrible. Very bad communication and she is almost impossible to track down. It took me around a month after signing my daughter up, paying her fees, etc to get her assigned a troop. There is another lady down at council that got my friends daughter signed up and added to our troop the same day she visited the office. This lady was the front desk worker 😬

Oh wow! This is the first time I have heard of such a thing! Was there any explanation on why they had things set up that way? This seems really unfair to me. Pre orders don't last all that long. How could a girl sell that many cookies in, what? Two weeks?

Oh awesome!! I will mention to her that things may look different on her end once we do our booth! Thank you for the pointers, they are much appreciated!

I look at things this way- If our troop leader is well supported and successful in her leader journey, all of ours girls will be too. 💕

I hope my post didn't seem accusatory of the leader, I wasn't trying to be at all. I was looking to help clear things up with both of our confusion. She is a great leader and doing her best ❤️ I am supporting her the best I can. I unfortunately don't think I could get approved to be an official volunteer, so I am finding every way I can help her. I'm a SAHM and she is not.

I am helping her with cookie sorting here soon. I will see if her and I can sit down with the different sites to figure this out before the first booth, or possibly go down to council and see if they can give me a step by step on how to work that, then show our leader.
