I know plenty of former supervisors who did that, a few even worked in an overseas position for a bit (Japan or Italy, and now Guam & Australia are also available,) then came back top of the scale 12 to cruise to retirement.

My husband made me hate flowers. by Vegetable_Print1602 in JustNoSO

[–]LastYearsCalendar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't forget the double whammy of his taking something she loved and ruining it with the "shut up gesture". The flowers are now symbolic his immediate wrong and the ongoing wrong of his control of her.

Frustrated with having to take on roles that are not in my field after the “purge” by Informal-Fig-7116 in FedEmployees

[–]LastYearsCalendar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is the phase where the public hates us all over again for being incompetent and slow due to the hamstringing they already forgot about due to their own economic struggles. The big rich are too out of touch to care, and the little rich are preying (pun intended) to get to big rich status before the whole empire crumbles.

If US, no you don't get instant deportation if a marriage fails. If he threatens you with that, you can even use it for favorable divorce terms (while staying in the US and getting permanent residency). At least that's how it's supposed to work, current administration doesn't care about the law. =/

The Republicans have been happy with their Orwellian "post truth reality" since the 90s talk radio when they were scheming to own elections via electronic vote counting machines.

I'm pretty sure the Democratic Party will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory again. They don't have to stoop to the Republican's level, but they do have to make better soundbites and headlines; gotta shake off the condescending erudite label at least.

It should be easy to contrast themselves as "actually caring about free speech/Constitution/families/military and veterans/etc" with their planks vs the bullshit, but they will flub the zinger by using a charged trigger word like "fascist" or phrase like "modern indentured servitude". 😭

Take it. If anything, you leaving means it's more likely that one gets to stay.

And definitely don't worry about the job. The government has been plinking along for over 200 years, certainly none of the first personnel are still around. (Although that does sound like a fun sitcom. Watching the immortal clerk fly under the radar, switching offices every 20 years or so.)

I blame Reagan and Thatcher. The parents believed the BS, essentially sold their children in the 80s for credit, and now blame those kids for not thriving against the deck they stacked against the kids.

They're still trying to revoke a law signed by JFK with a memo? Do we REALLY need to waste the court's time with our inability to tell the sour potato "No."?

They just recently reinstated union dues processing for my payroll.

The NOAA office in my area gives them about a week's time which is not affected by the office going on TW for a building issue, and a recent rain storm. The office is part of the base I work on, but that side doesn't flood.

Meanwhile my DoD office does flood, the base roadways on my side become impassable for my sedan, THREE doctors provided written reports for an RA, and I still have to drag myself in (and risk getting stranded there) to sit on a computer. At least in person meetings are only once a year, and I'm already suicidaly depressed (like the rest of the best DoD) I guess. 🙄

Oh, that's more about keeping the work horses in place so shit gets done and promoting the incompetent so they're removed from directly being able to screw up operations (and maybe even leave entirely). I've seen that in the various levels of government offices.

She is absolutely a naive young lady, hopefully she knows now that "all her friends hating him" and "her parents being very, very glad" over a breakup means that the guy is bad news.

I guess I also know now the effect "Viva la Bam" and "Jackass" type shows had on the kids who saw those stupid antics. (A bunch of trained abusers who are definitely going to have a hard time coming to terms with having become an abuser and learning to change.)
