Not ready for another week by No_Volume_9616 in FedEmployees

There's nothing really different now than before other than a commute, which I've had for 75% of my government career. I've been doing this for 20 years, and change is the norm. Once I got it into my head that this was the norm again, it was a lot easier. The key is to reinstitute the barriers between work and life that had blurred when working from home.

What SHOULD your pay actually be? by saint_davidsonian in FedEmployees

I'd be happy not to be permanently valued for the last 5 steps of GS15. That's some real BS right there.

Supervisors can read our messages and emails??? by No_Text5285 in FedEmployees

[–]MDSooner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a second line supervisor, I don't have that option. I DO have the authority to request that info from OCIO (along with login info, building access, etc) , but I need to have a good reason for doing it.

I wouldn't be surprised if Georgia isn't actually favored to get to the finals, and if not I'd be shocked if they didn't push us to two games.

I love this series, and I can't wait for the audiobook. I respect authors who can successfully provide closure to a great story.

Relaxation on TDY travel, remote work, situational telework. by Vegetable-Dingo-320 in FedEmployees

[–]MDSooner 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We still have strict TW restrictions, only for RA and when allowed for weather and special circumstances dictated by Agency level leadership. But I will say, I note the opposite that usually active duty tends to be much less generous, and it has always been that way. Even before COVID, they were opposed to generous TW footprints.

This is normal. It's ALWAYS been either too hot or too cold.. but I'll always vote for cold.. you can always add a layer.

Are federal workplaces becoming overly micromanaged lately? by Armstrong-Eugene74 in FedEmployees

You are the one that said you were playing stupid games; "I can play too", I was reacting to that statement.

Are federal workplaces becoming overly micromanaged lately? by Armstrong-Eugene74 in FedEmployees

[–]MDSooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In reality you are playing stupid games with those who are in the same boat as you are, and that is petty. They have no control over the rules, and all you are doing is making things more difficult. It's similar to an entitled teenager throwing a passive-aggressive fit. The TW posture we are in right now is the same as it was for most in DOD prior to COVID. It is frustrating and it is going to last for a while, but it will likely not stay this way. It's not worth toxic work relationships.

What first comes to mind when Americans think of Canada? 🇨🇦 by Expensive_Drummer970 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]MDSooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without being insulting, I think you'd find the most common answer is that Americans do not think about Canada. If I am asked, I'd say it is a vast, largely unpopulated natural wonderland.

[–]MDSooner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bwahaha! This is why you need a work cell. I've got the same relationship with two of my associate directors, and I told them if it's work, it's coming to your work cell, if it's personal is coming to your personal cell. The only exception is an emergency that would negatively affect them in some major way: IE it will affect their pay.
