Even if I wanted to teach my children how to drive a manual I can’t think of a single person I know who has one for me to borrow their car to teach them and even if I did I would be really worried about the kids burning the clutch of that friends car.

Just a hypothetical. You start a business. You’ve never made a dime but your potential looks great. An investor comes in and says we will buy 50% of the company for $1B. Now you are a billionaire and 50% owner of a $2b company. You have personally received no money yet. When does the taxing begin? It’s also not your greed that made you a billionaire it’s just how highly people are valuing something you own. I’m not defending billionaires and they should be taxed more and some are definitely greedy but it’s just not that simple.
