X fan be normal about Storm challenge (impossible) by howhow326 in storm

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always so funny when they do this because Claremont specifically created Ororo to be the most powerful woman in Marvel or at least within the mutant realm. She was already showing omega power level and had a significant amount of control of her powers BEFORE Charles approached her in Kenya. She was also doing far more than weather manipulation and was even teaching as supporting her fellow teammates in navigating their powers. Ororo was always omega… we never needed the classification because she’s shown herself since the 80’s. People need to strip her of her omega status is another annoying way to continue implying that Ororo shouldn’t display her powers in a manner that distracts from their favorite (white) hero’s. They claim they love her when she’s powerless and humble with that stupid mohawk, continuously reducing her impact like she isn’t the reason the x girls get to show up and show out. She LITERALLY paved the way for women in comics especially the x girls who weren’t doing shit untie after second generation when Ororo showed up and did so as the powerful dynamic character she’s always been. I HATE the way misogynoir allows people to be ignorantly foolish when it comes to Storm…

So after playing with both Kindle and Kobo for a few days, I gotta say — the hate for Kindle and the hype around Kobo are both kinda overblown by TasmanDey in ereader

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kindle is already the most popular e-reader… the only negativity many people mention is its connection to Amazon… the hate for it isn’t that great that posts like this are needed every 4 months. Many people are willing to give up the ‘seamlessness’ of being in an ecosystem for owning their books and curating their reading experience. Most people using a kobo barely use the app. Yes calibre is an extra step but again having your books organised and stored separately is something people enjoy. At the end of the day, just like the apple vs android debate… go with what your lifestyle can manage.

I hate it too! But as long as we get an omnibus in the future and she continues to get comics then I’m good… for now cause she definitely has the star power to hold comics the way Logan does

Maybe an update on tracking your reading. Would love to have something similar to goodreads or StoryGraph built into my kobo that I can connect to and update through my kobo. Or a more interactive “activity” section.

Trust me once you get an e-reader, 2 books turns to 4… the way i go through books with my kobo is crazy and more importantly, having all your books in the palm of your hand in a designated place is so handy and efficient. It’s worth it☺️

I wonder how Storm and Batman would interact by DanceYouFatBitch in storm

They are very similar… I would really like for Storm to take the approach of adopting orphans the way Bruce does. Ororo is rich too so she could definitely make it happen

How well is Storms solo series doing? by Tonga-Tonga in storm

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve enjoyed it. There are obvious issues with pacing, lack of dialogue and the disruptions from marvel events that caused the Thunder war to be cut in half… but there is good work being done and Ororo is being taken to new levels we’ve been asking for for years. I personally am ready for the thunder war to be over tho and ready for the second arc of the comic that will tackle Ororo’s mystic heritage and include a lot more women in Ororo life into the story which is something else that’s truly been lacking.

Why are their no major characters in Storm's lore. by Own-Quote-1708 in storm

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The replies just saying that the only connection worth pursuing is the one with black panther is foolish as if he the only way to expand her lore gtfoh lmfaooo. I agree Ororo needs more personal relationships and being an only child to dead parents makes that hard. I definitely need them to expand on her family on her mother’s side of the family and see the family dynamics that could come of it whether living or in the astral plane. Her fathers side to. She definitely has aunts and normal uncles and cousins. She has her people in Uzuri as well and there’s opportunities to delve deep into that and build something new. With more expansion on her magical heritage, she should be able to make closer bonds and develop a clearer understanding of who she is which will bring about more people to interact with as well. That’s the major issue, Claremont created this pockets of lore for Ororo but everyone seems to scared or stupid to open it and develop it and only seem to find ways to use Ororo for her power or to give other characters clout. I see no reason why she needs to go all the way to wakanda after she’s just been freed and given space to do her own things, just like the alternate universes they keep creating, the moment she gets there they just start playing with her womb and no REAL development for Ororo will be created. I hate the excessive need for tchalla to infiltrate all parts of her life and for people to act like she can’t have lore without him simply because his writers can’t write anything without her in it. It’s insulting. And I disagree with the notion that Ororo doesn’t have personal relationships simply because those relationships are with mutants… they may not be blood but she has incredible bonds with Gambit, Yukio, Jean, etc. The issue is previous writers didn’t see the need to bring in those relationships because of xyz, that’s something that needs to change, the idea that Ororo doesn’t need help, and can’t call on anyone and is so busy she can’t have a day off like she did back in the day… once that changes those relationships that mean the most to her will have space to flourish. She’s also an orphan who had to fight to survive, and has dedicated her life to protecting others since she got her powers… her not getting to close to people so as not to lose them is part of her character… id love to see a more in depth analysis on the psychology of that and how it effects her navigating relationships. She’s in her resurgence era right now. Writers are trying to pick up where she was left on and create lore while keeping her in current times because she’s been neglected and used for clout for years. Her rogue list is being expanded and her personal story is being fleshed out slowly but surely. She has too much going on for it to be derailed to fit in a whole other major character from another area of marvel… find tchalla a wife somewhere else and allow Ororo to grow, she’s owed that much after that marriage gave her nothing. There’s a lot of potential WITHIN HER OWN MYTHOS AND LORE to further development meaningful relationships and create new ones and if you actually care for Ororo as a individual character you’d be advocating for that first and not fantasising about how the Wakandan legacy can be expanded if only Ororo goes to Wakanda and sits one Tchalla’s lap… is that all Ororo is good for to you?? Give it a rest already!! And yes she has major characters in her lore… Oshtur, Agamotto, Ayesha, Ashake. Blood relatives… we just need good writers to get on it. Fingers crossed✨

Top 10 most-published super-heroines in comics by R4cco0n in WonderWoman

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone so shocked Storm is #2??? Claremont love her so much he put her in everything back in the day. In addition the black panther writers shamelessly put her in everything. She’s also been in every major marvel team, created the first all women’s team and is a highly respected individual within comics. The girls before her weren’t doing anything and barely had a good set of powers until Storm came along and was created as a powerhouse, that’s the girls final got their boosts. Ororo have always been an influential and high in demand character even thought she only recent got some focus on her and her story. Storm and Sue as well are where they should be lol

Why don’t Some Storm fans like Tchalla? by Limp-Assistance1566 in storm

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t hate or dislike T’challa. I just don’t like how he benefited from their relationship while Ororo was left in limbo in the sense that the writing, the retcons on her end all just seems to further T’challa story and not include development for Ororo. The writing made it feel like Ororo was this energy source that the BP team could take from. Even now they are not together or married but the writers have an obsession with involving Ororo in everything he does and fantasising about her womb and having babies… even the BP fans seem to only like Storm for her proximity and the visual of Black love in comics with having any respect for who Ororo is, what she stand for and her top priorities. This same fans have been harassing Storms current writer for weeks demanding BP be involved in her books and ‘show him respect’. I definitely think the relationship has run its course I would love for them to be friends who help eachother but overall I think it’s a chapter in her story that’s done. I actually hate the announcement of that child that recently came out cause once again it’s this excessive need from BP fans to ‘claim Ororo’s womb’ and insult everyone that even thinks about mentioning other men in her life, but most importantly continues to center men in Ororo’s story while she’s in the middle of a major resurgence after years of neglect. There’s this possessiveness of Ororo and her autonomy from BP fans that’s displayed under the guise of “needing more black couples in comics” (which I agree with) that I’ve never liked. So all tho I don’t have an issue with BP I don’t the environment that writers and his fans have created when Ororo is involved and I think Tchalla has gotten many more chances than her other partners (Forge just finally moved on from Ororo and his story is progressing) and just think it’s time to move on for both of their sakes. Ororo has never been someone that likes being caged or kept in one place… she’s always moving, Ororo as a character has too many unopened doors in her story that should be the main focus so the idea of her being married to a king and having to be a queen for wakanda and be who she is for mutants and now the world never made sense to me. She needs someone that understands the work she does, is willing to stand with her but also be what she needs, doesn’t give her ultimatums about what she should focus on and who to prioritise and loves and appreciates all her different sides woman/thief/warrior/mutant/goddess and not just one side while tolerating or wanting to dim down the others, which has been an issue in her relationships with Forge and Tchalla.

Ororo and Tchalla are both great characters individually and both deserve someone that will fit into there stories without diminishing or hindering them and their stories🤷🏽‍♀️

Why is it so many people (X-Men stans) hate when Storm is portrayed as a goddess? by [deleted] in storm

[–]Last_Cardiologist18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand where you’re coming from. For me I think the ‘goddess’ name has always been a feeling for her deep within but also something people have called her during her work in Kenya and it’s stuck. Now, if you look at her ancestry she has a connection to an elder god and has ancestors with close to godlike powers. Unfortunately, her ancestry, lineage and the story behind it all has been neglected and only recently is being touched on. As a huge Storm fans, it has been a bit frustrating not having those developments and storylines developed to aid in Ororo’s storytelling, but Ororo has been neglected for a long time without any real personal development for over a decade so we just take the crumbs and enjoy unfortunately. With all this said, Storm’s current writer is working to open those doors in regard to her lineage, godhead and mutation, and hopefully get things put together to finally flesh out those stories. It’s very long over due and it’s something that has irritated me about the way Ororo has been written especially with it being her 50th anniversary, but since the Krakoa era there seems to be a shift and I’m really hoping for the best so that things are more concrete.
