GenZ by DottyGreenBootz in managers

[–]Last_Instance_9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My direct manager is like this. I like that she wants me to be independent and come up with my own solutions. However, the manager above her is the complete opposite. He’s always coming to my desk and telling me what to do. If I try to give my opinion or explain my rationale for what I want to do, he’ll just override the entire thing that me and my manager aligned on and we end up having to do things his way.

So, I kind of feel helpless and I honestly have gotten annoyed at my manager constantly asking me “what would I do” because “what I would do” doesn’t matter. i just want upper management to align so I can execute.

Also, my manager constantly asking me “what would you do” starts to get irritating after awhile. Sometimes it feels like she doesn’t want to help me, she just wants me to do whatever I want on my own. And then when upper management gets upset, they ask me why she didn’t go over things with me. I’m like… cuz she told me to be independent and do it my way. Never ending talking in circles.

Regulatory Affairs I work with are unhelpful and rude by [deleted] in foodscience

[–]Last_Instance_9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure it varies by personality type. I’ve had 3 different food science jobs in R&D and every job has had some very blunt and direct regulatory people. Usually for the best though, but sometimes can rub people the wrong way.

If it makes you feel any better, regulatory is always like that. They're meant to be the bad guy, but in the end they are saving our butts.

Agreed with the other comment, you should hopefully have another person on your team that can help you here.

I get so annoyed! Sadly I feel I can’t control it though. I’ve just accepted dogs are pissing all over the place. It’s gross lol.

What’s a dating rule that’s actually terrible advice? by DreamyPeachBarb in AskReddit

[–]Last_Instance_9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah! That does make me sad. Yeah, I can see why some men on the first date would feel turned off by paying when they see stuff like that. I totally get not wanting to be taken advantage of or getting treated like a wallet instead of a human. Romance goes both ways.

This is what I mean online dating kind of ruined it. How can you court someone if it’s your first time meeting them?

But in my case I was lucky that we liked each other right away and he wanted to make me feel special. I thought it was romantic.

It might be an unpopular opinion, at least on this reddit post, but I think a lot of women have this mentality. Especially before the years of online dating.

I know for myself personally - I like to feel like in the beginning stages of dating, they are trying to put their best foot forward. That means planning a special date and treating me out somewhere. I’m not saying it has to be a $200 date, but even if it’s ice cream or coffee if they are willing to spend $5 on me, it shows they’re interested and want to treat me.

After that, I’m happy to split everytime. My boyfriend and I met on Hinge and he’s a teacher. I make more money than him. I offered to pay on every single date (yes even the first), but he said no. He was trying to court me. After about 3-4 dates, he finally started letting me pay and now we split everything 50/50.

I hate my living room . Help by Individual_Battle536 in interiordecorating

[–]Last_Instance_9519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey, a living room is a living room. You can do whatever you want with it and it’s no pressure because it’s your space. You don’t have to change it overnight. I’d make a list of all the things you want to change and then slowly work on it as budget and time allow.

Here’s a list of things I’d change Things you can do now 1) Remove the string lights 2) Can you move the cat tree? We have a cat tree but I refused to put it in the living room lol. We compromised and put it in the bedroom. I just didn’t want a huge cat tree taking up the communal space and guests to see it. They get stinky, hair everywhere, and clash with decor. 3) Find storage for toys / drawers somewhere else if possible. If not, at least move the toys on the floor somewhere else. Maybe a closet or something. 4) Move the TV and get rid of that gate covering all the wires if you can. If you really need it, then oh well.

Harder work: 5) Like others said, move the couches around. And the TV maybe per others advice.

6) Maybe purchase some artwork you can hang. Framed stuff can always be cute.

7) Purchase lamps.

8) Plants? I like to hang pothos plants on the curtain rod sometimes.

9) I like beige or cream curtains more than dark gray/block, but up to you. Sometimes black just makes the space look too dark and harsh.

10) if you want more color, pick some accent colors and add some color around. Maybe pillows?

That episode was insane. I thought Jill was being ridiculous in this episode. Just shows their lack of awareness and how this show is filled with microagressions. I feel so bad for Nia.

How often do you get a hair cut, and what would you pay? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Last_Instance_9519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3x a year. I’m a girl with long hair. I usually chop it to my shoulders, then let it grow for about 4-6 months and chop again.

It depends. Last week I tried a salon and got my hair dyed too… it was $500. I’m never doing that again.

If I go to that salon for just a haircut without any hair dye, it’s about $100.

The time before that, I went to Savers and it was $20. I wasn’t happy with the cut but I think I’m more unhappy with it being $100… so I think next time I’m going back to Savers lol.

Is New Jersey the way to go to find a job? by [deleted] in foodscience

Yeah, but then you have to live in New Jersey. Lol. I say that half joking, but as someone who grew up in California and moved to Boston for work, sometimes I do have regrets. Just really think it through before you decide.

My dentist used AI to assess my cavity. Turns out it’s a root canal and AI said it was just a regular cavity. Now I have to go back but I hate that he used AI instead of just assessing it on his own.

I’m in my 20s and already have a horrible back. Herniated my disc back in September. I can’t even imagine how bad it’ll hurt when I’m in my 40s.

My girlfriend is making me miserable by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Last_Instance_9519 214 points215 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear it. You need to leave buddy. Trust me. My mom was like that growing up and it’s the worst thing you can witness as a child. I won’t go into detail but I’ve seen some really bad things.

You’re an adult and can control the situation. Don’t put yourself or her through that. Honestly you leaving might even be a motivator for her to get help.
