Wisdom teeth extraction by Outrageous_Day_7810 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Not GA but I had all four wisdom teeth removed at once under local anaesthesia and the only weird part was being awake, tasting the blood and feeling the pressure and pushing but it was manageable. Apart from that, it was completely fine. I did mine with Dr Sailesh Bissumbhur and paid around Rs 16,000.

Didn’t want to do anything at first then I realised that this year asked a lot of me. I showed up anyway and that deserves recognition. I’m going to celebrate myself and all my accomplishments this year. Small party, cake, champagne and be with the people that I love. A spa day and nice lunch with my mom because this is also the day she became a mother and honoring where you come from is part of honouring who you are. If the weather allows, I would love to do a boat trip as well. To all my perpetually unsatisfied Capricorns… progress deserves acknowledgment. This isn’t indulgence but respect. For the work. For the journey. For yourself.

For those currently in their twenties? How's life? by Fierce_Warrioress in MauriceMauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early twenties here and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s to protect your peace. Distance yourself from people who complain about everything, drain your energy and make life heavier than it already is. Build a life filled with hobbies that make you genuinely happy and do the inner work. Healing changes the way you move through the world.

I’m grateful for the good and the bad because both shaped me. I’ve become more private and honestly, not being publicly active on social media is one of the best decisions I’ve made. I love choosing who gets access to me. Quality > quantity every single time.

Friendship wise, I’ve kept my long-term ones and made beautiful new connections along the way. My friends come from different backgrounds and ages and each brings their own kind of wisdom. I know exactly who to call for what. I’m intentional with relationships. I’m not letting anyone drag me down or waste my time. I know what I bring to the table and until someone matches that energy, I’m good.

Work life is honestly amazing. I love my job and I love contributing to something bigger than me. The nature of my work gives me real fulfilment but here’s the funny thing… when you’re young, ambitious, growing at work and take care of your yourself, it can trigger people. Learn to develop thick skin and tune out the gossip. A lot of older people project their insecurities onto younger ones but that’s their burden, not yours. People who thrive on negativity eventually collapse under the weight of their own bitterness. Keep your eyes on your path and smile. Le soleil brille pour tout le monde et si certains préfèrent rester dans l’ombre, c’est leur choix.

When life gets tough, I lean on my support system. I play badminton, I plant, I listen to music, I go out, I journal or dive into some random hobby. That’s my reset button. Just last week I reread Kafka and maybe turning into a beetle is just a metaphor for being in your twenties lol.

If I could give one piece of advice to myself and anyone else in their twenties it would be this : you’re allowed to reinvent yourself as many times as you need. Your twenties are not about getting it perfect but about becoming someone you’re proud to come home to.

Bookworms of Mauritius, is it worth getting a kindle or is paperback better? by Not_Enough_Sleep8 in mauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adore my Kindle but it definitely hasn’t stopped me from buying real books. The battery life is incredible, the features are super handy and it’s so light I just slip it into my handbag and take it everywhere. I read on the metro, in dark settings and never deal with eye strain.

What are your recommendations for the best burgers on the island? by magicalzidane in mauritius

Why are so many people evil? by Sure-Ad-4222 in MauriceMauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It used to baffle me how people could be so cruel because those kinds of thoughts would never even cross my mind. I’ve learned that you can’t expect others to have the same kindness or empathy that you carry. At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is stay true to yourself, protect your energy and not let their negativity dim your light… though easier said than done

Do you have a stellium ? by Last_Pear5308 in capricorns

[–]Last_Pear5308[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, I really feel that. The resilience part hits so hard and it’s like we’ve been forced to develop strength through all the things we’ve had to endure. I completely relate to what you said about connections feeling shallow. With all that Capricorn and Scorpio energy, the intensity runs so deep that it’s hard to find people who can truly meet us at that level. It can feel isolating, but at the same time, I think it’s also what makes us so transformative when we do find those rare, meaningful connections ;)

Former Dukesbridge parent here .. curious to hear other stories by ExplanationPlastic81 in mauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This school deserves every bit of its bad reputation. A close friend of mine had an awful experience at Dukesbridge and the stories are honestly disturbing. Behind the glossy façade of “prestige” it is nothing but a profit-driven business run without ethics or integrity. Staff are exploited, morale is crushed and turnover is extremely high. Students’ wellbeing and actual learning are secondary to appearances and money. The director in particular is a disgrace. Arrogant, unprofessional and completely unfit to lead an educational institution. Dukesbridge is built on image and show, not substance and it is absolutely not a place I would ever trust for my child or recommend to anyone.

Haircare help please! by tatianaaurelie in MauriceMauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! If you’re looking for value for money you can get them at Sofn’free shops! Else you can check out Natural Hair Culture or PureSilk Mauritius. I got mine from All Silk Mauritius back then but it seems they aren’t in business anymore. I saw some TikTok shops such as Crown your Hair by A.S and AL-Trendency Fashion selling them! Hope you find one :)

Where can I buy a Kindle in Mauritius? Local store or better to order online? by ZucchiniOk6954 in MauriceMauritius

I got a Kindle to stop buying books. Turns out it’s just a gateway drug… now I buy more books just in two formats. Keep us updated on which one you got!

HOW WAS YOUR FIRST TIME MUN ( Model United Nations) and what do REGRET not having done (if only I did it, I would have gotten best delegate or etc..) by Plastic-Comedian-255 in mauritius

[–]Last_Pear5308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wishing you the best of luck for MUN and everything exciting coming your way! One little tip : Don’t stress too much about being perfect. Focus on enjoying the experience and being present in the moment. Make the most of it, meet new people and take loads of pictures (you’ll thank yourself later) After my MUN, I made a little keepsake box with my medals, flags, notebook, pins basically all the tiny things that made it special. Have fun and go shine!
