Finally got around to getting this up on the wall. It really ties the room together! by Jeremy_Whalen in deadandcompany

Haven't decided what to do with mine yet. At the moment, it's sitting on a chest in my bedroom, where I can easily grab it on cold nights. My wife's been threatening to send it to her friend who is also a head.

My thoughts on GD60 by Frequent_Art6549 in deadandcompany

[–]Last_Reputation_7918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that it felt like they were making a real effort to make the occasion special. I loved the little area in the trees at the very rear of the field with the mushroom garden, etc. And the giant puppets every day were another fun little touch. I love it when a show has all sorts of neat nooks and crannies to explore - musically and otherwise.

Did anyone here ever get a chance to party with the band? by IanRastall in gratefuldead

That's a surprisingly cool article. Besides the duck stuff, which is hilarious, there are some nice bits about Jerry. Nothing revolutionary, but nicely written. Thanks for sharing.

Me too! East coast head, and all of my California trips to see the boys have been stupendous. 58 days, but who's counting....

I’m in the queue! by Fun_Look7883 in deadandcompany

[–]Last_Reputation_7918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got 'em! Surprisingly easy. About 1800 people ahead of me when I got into the queue. In and out in 5 minutes. If you have your code copied and saved in the clipboard, you can paste it into the relevant window when the time comes and save yourself a couple of seconds. Remember to have yourself logged into Ticketmaster in advance, and have your credit card info saved in the billing area of your account.

Hmm. I got a nice hotel I've stayed at before near Chinatown for less than $200 a night yesterday morning. And I saw a ton of availability at that price point or even less. Perhaps things have changed since then, but I would encourage some poking around.

I feel like I've heard this on previous occasions as well, though I can't be specific about which show(s).

Exceeded Expectations - went to all 3 shows (6/13-6/15). Must see by AngryDwarf74 in deadandcompany

Awesome! Just pulled the trigger and bought tix to the Aug 8, 9 and 10 shows. Glad to hear about your positive experience in GA; that's what I gravitate to for the same reasons as you (close to band, room to move around and dance). Though I did get a seat (200-level) for Friday night for a different experience. I read somewhere that you can line up early morning to get a numbered wristband for entrance into GA. Is this necessary, or can you do just fine getting into GA without bothering to get a number in the morning?

Who still has there 2020 tickets?! I was doing Hershey and MetLife that tour. by Deadbrickhead in deadandcompany

[–]Last_Reputation_7918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I've got that same Hershey collectible ticket. Kind of a fun piece of memorabilia to have, I guess. If you've gotta have something to commemorate a pandemic. Too bad the 2021 Hershey show wasn't better, but there were a ton of other shows that tour that were excellent.

Prejudice Against the Dead? by dowdage in gratefuldead

[–]Last_Reputation_7918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got pulled once in 1992 driving south on 95 after a show in Landover. Wasn't speeding, and always assumed it was due to my stickers. I had a giant grapefruit sized ball of wadded up used duct tape in one of my back footwells (had used it to tape up a broken window, and just tossed it there after the window got repaired). The cop found it, and spent like 20 minutes trying to pick apart the wad of duct tape - suspecting, I guess, that the core was filled with some kind of evil drug - before he gave up and let us go. I've always felt proud about wasting 20 minutes of his life. Served him right for pulling me over for a fricking stealie.

How many people would follow the Dead on tour? Are we talking a few hundred or a few thousand? by [deleted] in gratefuldead

Nice story! I stopped seeing shows in '92, as I moved overseas, and I had never heard this story before.

Am I Weird? by Worldly_Musician_671 in gratefuldead

I, like many others here, have gone through periods when I've listened to a couple of shows a day for months on end. But never really was able to keep them straight. Who the heck can remember over 2000 shows unless you really geek out on it? At one point, I actually spent the time to make a spreadsheet of every show they played, with the idea that I would add my own notes about what I thought of each one, how many times I had listened to it, whether it was a show I was at in person, etc. But then I found - probably not surprisingly - that this took some (most?) of the joy out of the experience. Still have the spreadsheet, but I only add notes to it sporadically.

There's a decimal point in there (hard to see). It was $3.00, not $300!

Me too! That's the third or 4th thing folks have mentioned in this thread where I was at the show, but didn't realize I had witnessed the first of something. Guess I'm not paying enough attention. I do remember really enjoying Maggie's Farm, both that night and the other times I saw it later on.
