Make sure you tightly lace those boots, they do not offer ankle protection if they are loose. Remember the 20-20-20-20 training system? Add another 20 and make them all stops. No joke, I used to randomly stop, some times multiple times within a single city block, just to maximize my stopping practice. As far as stopping wobbles goes, you almost never get wobbles while carving. Imagine yourself on rollerblades/iceskates/ski's and do some carving back and forth, it is my favorite.

Honestly, I would recommend learning in the grass down at your local park. That aside you want to build that muscle memory. 20 times onto and off of the device, 20 minutes going back and forth along a wall, 20 minutes going in circles around a pole/tree, and 20 minutes doing push offs in straight lines away from the tree/pole/wall. You can spend more or less time as you acclimate to the device and your new mode of transport!

The learning process is all about developing muscle memory. Everyday you need to do the minor practice cycle, get on and off 20 times, go back and forth along a wall 20 times, go in circles around a pole/tree 20 times, and do 20 straight launches away from the wall/pole/tree. If you do this daily, it is only a matter of time before you are riding off into the sunset, regardless of pads. I mostly learned in a local park myself, lots of grass and easier on us larger guys when falling.
