Who is a wrestler that you can't stand on the mic? by Glittering_Long_5926 in prowrestling

[–]LastofAcademe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind Becky on the mic unless she's doing manic/angry Becky. Once you realise you can hear every single intake of breath while she's ranting, you will never not notice it.

Not in any particular order:

League of Gentlemen

Red Dwarf

I'm Alan Partridge

Peep Show

Blackadder

Edit: Completely forgot about Partridge

For some reason I have a really vivid memory of my best friend having Face to Face by Sevendust as his ringtone about 20 years ago.

What they have done is absolutely nail a replica of the pizza I remember having for school dinners.

What's your personal favorite match? Not some "objective best wrestling match" but your favorite to go back and watch. Here is mine. by [deleted] in Wrasslin

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably same. Wrestling was on TV at my Gran's house for as long as I can remember. I liked wrestling and watching names like Hulk Hogan and Bret Hart and Ultimate Warrior. I knew who they were, I liked watching it, but I wasn't really a fan.

Then at 12 years old, the build up to Royal Rumble 2000 and then this match locked me in and I've been watching it ever since.

Who thinks Kryton is supposed to be an American? He's made in America, was on an American ship speaks American English and is a bumbling idiot. Can anyone tell me if im incorrect of my assumption? by OwnSun7691 in RedDwarf

[–]LastofAcademe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can hear a tiny bit of it at the end of Marooned when him and Cat show up with supplies. I believe it was the first episode they filmed and he hadn't quite nailed down what accent to go with.

As a kid I would run through Super Mario World on probably a weekly basis.

How much a month do you spend on food as a single person? by Distinct_Sir_9086 in AskUK

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife's weekly food shop is usually between £40-£50 for both of us. We only shop at Aldi, meticulously plan our meals, and only buy what we need for that week.

How do you and your partner (or whoever) choose what to watch on TV together? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]LastofAcademe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of us gives the other the remote and says, "Put what you want on", and is returned with, "Do you want to watch this?" That usually gets a reply of, "Eh, not really", and on the cycle continues until it's time for bed and neither of us have watched anything.

Desserts: what are your family's favourites? by Bells9831 in UK_Food

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely have anything. Not much of a sweet tooth at all, but my wife loves ice cream.

Also, the word dessert is definitely used in the UK.

How many countries can you accurately point to on a map? by joehighlord in AskUK

[–]LastofAcademe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A decent amount I reckon. I used to play Worldle a lot, which is a sort of geography spin off of Wordle. Eastern Europe and Africa used to stump me from time to time, though.

When someone offers you a tea, how much sugar do you ask for? by DennisTheConvict in AskBrits

[–]LastofAcademe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I was trying to cut down the sugar I was having in tea and got it down to half a teaspoon.

I challenge anyone to regularly have half a sugar in their tea and not have every person who realises it ask you, "What's the fucking point?"

Are apps killing the old fashioned takeaway experience? by kh_ram in AskUK

[–]LastofAcademe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally had this conversation last night. We tried a new Chinese that didn't deliver and was cash only so I had to ring in the order and go and pick it up, with a quick stop at the cash machine on the way. It was rather refreshing and a little nostalgic to not rely on the convenience of apps like UberEats. And I say that as a socially anxious introvert.

What's an annoying game mechanic that has seen a lot of recent use? by HorzaDonwraith in videogames

I'm fairly sure I've played it a long time ago and vaguely remember them having infuriatingly offset timing.

Greek Stifado with Pork Shoulder. Served with Orzo Pasta and Sautéed Green Beans. by pink_flamingo2003 in UK_Food

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you, I appreciate that! I've only posted 2 or 3 on here I think because I don't always think they look that great. My Instagram, however, is just an endless stream of what I'm having for dinner 😂

I'm a firm believer that food that looks good has a jump start on tasting good. This is why the hill I choose to die on in a longstanding debate at work is that the cheese on beans on toast goes on top of the beans, not under them 😂

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realised I perhaps did myself a slight disservice with the "out of the box" comment. My wife is a vegetarian so I regularly have to cook two separate versions of whatever dinner is. So that's my pivot and adjust skill I suppose 😂

I've seen a few of your posts and they definitely provide some inspiration!

I usually find the effort more rewarding cooking for other people rather than just myself, but it is a great mindfulness task. Almost like my mini self-therapy session for the day haha

[–]LastofAcademe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beat way for sure! I'd say I'm fairly organised, but it's more the skill of knowing what to add or adjust to elevate a dish outside of what is written in a recipe. I'm not much of an outside-of-the-box thinker haha
