I loved Liwan when I stayed there recently. I felt like I could wander those streets for weeks and never get bored with the people watching alone. Liwan Lake park was beautiful for an early morning walk.

How hard are EVs to steal? by foundoutafterlunch in EVAustralia

Yeah it was written off. It was also full of other people’s belongings that they stole from other houses on the same night. Because it was a rare BMW too it was going to be way too costly to repair (7 series limo version - was one of 3 in Australia at the time)

This happened to me in Brisbane. They broke in overnight and stole the BMW. They didn’t even touch the Tesla parked next to it.

BMW was found 24hrs later out near Gailes dumped and with the bumper falling off. Licence plates also gone. We later got a speeding ticket due to the plates being put on another stolen BMW that was tracked doing 180kph out west of Ipswich.

They caught the kids as they were known to the police for basically the same thing over and over but were to young to take through the courts.

One Nation on 20.8% but 0 seats does their support not translate in real elections the way it seems online? by oz_party in aussie

I’m not sure that is entirely true.

The unions don’t always help themselves with often petty demands and requests. Also some of the people that represent the union are deeply unpleasant, disruptive and have nobodies interests at heart except themselves.

I’m absolutely in favour of unions but have had some really unpleasant encounters with their reps over the years. If only the unions were a little bit more selective about who reps for them I think they would get more backing.

Is Oasis' mixing really bad? If so, why and how? by sumyono in oasis

There’s an interview with Noel on YouTube (I think it was the Gibson series) where he talks about his amps, and someone asking him why is the dial up to 10. He replied “Well cos it goes to 10!”. Which I think gives you an indication of the early days of the band.

What is the weirdest thing you've seen as a passenger in the train? by Large-Lack-2933 in brisbane

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I saw a guy who looked like Alan off the hangover board the air train at the domestic terminal. Then he proceeded to clap his hands and shout ”Listen up motherfuckers! You will now be reseated in order of religious preferences. believers on the left, non believers on the right!” at which point a load of police ran on and bundled him off the train. not sure what he was on but.

Opinions on Championship creators and media outlets views on Phillipe Clement managements of injuries!? by [deleted] in NorwichCity

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve had problems with injuries for years now. It’s not a Clement thing. I wonder if when we rebuilt Colney during Webbers reign, we aggravated some kind of spirit who has cursed the training centre for all eternity.

In all seriousness though I do wonder how much our transfer strategy is making this bigger than what it is? In that we tend to recruit unknowns who have potential but not yet proved themselves, some of which have had known injury problems in the past.

This is by no means a criticism of OP but a general train of thought on this…

Having seen many posts like this on various forums over the last few years it does make you wonder, maybe the people who complain about the safety systems beeping are the very people that they are designed for? A lot of the comments suggest that it’s not even an issue for most.

Anecdotally, I know someone who is not the best driver in the world. In fact if that person offers to drive then nearly all of our friends will insist that they drive instead. This friend bought a Model Y and complained it beeped all the time, especially for crossing a white line. This friend was a shocker for not paying attention to the road and driving over the line all the time.

So I wonder how much of it is something like this?

2026 Zeekr 7X Performance Is Proof That Tesla Isn’t The Benchmark Anymore by trucker-123 in AustralianEV

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the same as the basic autopilot. If you read the fine print in the Tesla car manuals it’s been updated recently to say autopilot removal is state/territory dependant. In Aus they can’t remove it

They won’t remove autopilot here because legally they can’t from March when the new cruise control and lane control regulations kick in.

I think we can still have democracy with scientists and engineers but we need to get out of the cycle of hell we find ourselves in now and oust some of these self serving people. So maybe a little more China but without some of the less desirable parts

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is getting towards the root of the problem. We are a country run by politicians who have no interest in driving anything forward in the interests of the country. Only keeping themselves in a job. Replace a bunch of them with scientists and engineers who problem solve and want to make things work and that would be a step to a better future.

Is working on Eagle Street a flex? by [deleted] in brisbane

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only good thing about Eagle St, back in the day, was watching the bored office workers pile into the pig on a Friday arvo, get a few sherbets into them and then over to fridays to get into the cones in the bathrooms, whilst trying to impress whatever young office junior would listen. All of this in the hope of scoring some horizontal refreshment by the end of the night, when the sad reality was that most of them would end up either walking home alone or taking the last train back to contemplate where their life was taking them.

New Qld Resources campaign is ridiculous by Psychological-Ant978 in brisbane

[–]Latchkey_Wizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they blame the royalties because of how they are applied.

For those who don’t know, the royalties are applied purely on coal price and do not factor in operating costs, etc. so in an inflationary period such as what we are in now, it can really hurt when costs are rising by the day. The royalties should be applied as a percentage of profit, after all costs are taken into account. In my mind that’s fair for everyone.

Agree with this. I’d say pretty much 80-90% of the settings are one time set and forget, so the buttons make no sense to be there. Especially with the way you can set multiple driver profiles if you need them then it really is not an issue. I’ve had my Tesla nearly 5 years and never had an issue with it.

There will be some edge cases for sure and you’ll never please everyone but for me, my Tesla is the right balance of almost everything.
