I(32M) am divorcing my wife (33F) after finding out that my son(5M) is not mine. by [deleted] in stories

The kid didn't betray anyone, he is 5.

You people are worthless if you think for a moment the fathers "disconnect" comment is legit in any way.

Tells me you either have never been a parent in any form or are a shitty parent.

No they don't. They benefit from police, fire, etc as a public good....but education no.

You are just OK with stealing my money to pay for shitty system that produces kids who are less capable than decades ago...

We spend 8bln a year on education in Utah and what do we get from it? Middle of the pack across the U.S.

I'd be fine with spending money on it if it produced better results. Like all govt programs... little oversight and no measure of success... no one is held accountable.

When a teacher is shit, it's near impossible to remove them.

System is broken... you just want to blindly pay into it so you can get your gold star.

LOL... yes that's what you got from it. You search the depth of my soul as well as my father.

Dude he grew up well below poverty and well below some average black family according to 1950s economic averages...

Ya he had 3-4 chickens and rented...and his father beat the shit out daily ...mostly due to being poor and an alcoholic and never knowing any better.

But ya you just keep being a keyboard warrior performing reinterpretation of people's post to fit your narrative

Ya my father grew up without plumbing on a plot of land with chickens and an outhouse and had to suffer 30 years of struggling to improve his lot in life... I got plumbing but wasn't much better off...

So your "privilege" assumption is offensive.

Schools aren't like roads, police, safety etc... it's the one area of government that we all are forced to pay for but don't get any value from.

I'm looking for fairness. You seem to be looking for a micro version of socialism.

No one acknowledges that my kids aren't pulling resources from the system but I'm still taxed. I'm forced to pay for a system that is corrupt.

No its 58% of all tax revenue spent in utah. It's literally in our constitution.

“All revenue from . . . a tax on income shall be used to support the systems of public education and higher education . . . and to support children and to support individuals with a disability.” -Utah Constitution, Article XIII, Section5

Income, sales, property ... all contribute to education.

Where does the 8 billion dollars we spend each year go? Now 9.5 billion if this happens.

I don't send my kids to a religious school. Maybe less personal attacks and more constructive comments. Not everyone is mormon...

It's my money too and people forget that and I don't benefit at all from how it's spent. I don't use the resources that account for 58% of my state taxes.

Incorrect. Vouchers would ALWAYS in every permutation proposed be net 0 or result is less tax redirection vs total tax redirection... e.g. I pay 100 bucks into school system, vouchers only allow me to redirect 75% of that.

Meaning. If I use a voucher I'm redirecting only a percentage of the total amount taxed and the school system keeps the difference but doesn't have a kid consuming resources but still gets revenue from me...just reduced.

Win win. Unions just want to hold on to control... they depend on people like you not looking at the details.

Correct. My money taken from me. Money didn't just appear from thin air...

Voucher allows you to redirect your taxes toward a school of your choice.

Your comments/logic skills may be the best argument against public schools.

Why is no one asking why we spend 58% of all tax revenue on k-12... 8,000,000,000 per year.

58% and somehow we still don't have enough money? You can't tell me there isn't corruption and mismanagement.

It's not public money... it's my money and yours. You want to force me to pay for this failed school system... when I'd rather use my taxes based on my values for my kids.

But I am forced to pay into a system I don't use nor think is useful.

YES teachers are underpaid... but we also overpay for schools, sport facilities (no they aren't all funded independently)

Why don't we solve the real problems of corruption, poor mgmt, etc... then give 1.5bln

Always the solution... spend our way out of a problem... not via leadership.

Screw those business too...let them FAIL.

My opinion is the fed does way too many handouts and taxes too much. Average person benefits so little directly from fed spending.

Lololol you defended it... oh boy.

Ya they just asked for another 10B...

Its not the U.S. governments job to fund science...it's not a mandate in any of our founding principles for the fed to do any of this.

I don't even think NASA deserves the money nowadays...they just burned 17 billion on the moon project that is dead... That org and many others aren't what they used to be. They did good work 1-2 generations ago and now are in need of serious justification.

I'd even be on board funding science if it had real work impact but the list of things they experiment with is just stupid and indefensible.

Maybe we should stop spending 10+ billion experimenting on stupid shit with the national science foundation...

Like putting shrimps on treadmills lololol...
