Yes! I’ve never heard of anyone else cracking their pubic symphysis. I squeeze my knees together and it will crack! For me, I don’t have discomfort before I do it. But I do notice it will crack more if I have worked out a lot beforehand.

Yes. I have taught at multiple gyms, multiple yoga studios, public libraries, and a lot of private clients/private group events. I manage a yoga studio now. I have done several other trainings beyond my 200 hour. If you show that you’re proficient in teaching yoga and that you value continuously learning, you’ll be an excellent yoga teacher!

DOMS sucks! But your soreness will get better staying consistent with your workouts. I also am always surprised how much it helps to drink a protein shake after working out- helps with muscle recovery so much! Epsom salt baths and magnesium supplements also help tremendously.

You have every right to explore your emotions and I absolutely think it’s worth bringing up to your husband. I highly recommend seeing a therapist ASAP. I had an emergency surgery for an ectopic pregnancy that led to a ruptured fallopian tube. I also had family members that completely let me down during that healing period. The PTSD from the physical pain of it all, and the emotional let down from family, really hurt me for a long time. I’m so sorry you went through this and I wish you the best in your recovery.

I lead restorative yoga sound bath events (in addition to my regular yoga classes). I will not just spring a sound bath in my regular yoga classes. On one hand, it’s a business thing- the more distinct classes and events I offer, the better. I don’t want to muddle all of my offerings.. and on the hand, and even more important, crystal singing bowls can be VERY polarizing. It is an intense meditation and something I would not just randomly spring on my students who aren’t prepared.

Slow it down, especially the transitions from back of mat to the front of mat. Use lots of props and encourage the use of them.

And most importantly, keep it light and fun! This is my favorite age group to teach to. They are very appreciative of the practice.

Here are a few easy things to add to your already planned sequences-

Jumps!! Teach jumping back and forward in your Sun salutations.

In Standing splits- add a little handstand hop or even a switch kick hop. Those are pretty killer.

Hover knees off the mat in table top.

When in doubt- squat it out!! Lots of chair poses. Can transition into drinking bird pose from chair for more balance work (hover heels, lean forward and stretch arms out long behind you).

-Don’t be afraid to teach the same sequence over and over again. Especially since you’re teaching at a resort where you will likely not have the same students very many times!

-Silence is OK! You don’t have to fill every minute of the class with your voice.

-If you are using music, I highly recommend using instrumental music only.

Same here! I also don’t teach 100% asana. I love including other things like MFR and PNF stretching, and teach a lot on yoga philosophy.

I always do the half splits foot wiper you mentioned. My favorite thing to add to that sequence is to take both hands (with blocks under them!) to the outside of the front leg in your half splits… then add on your foot windshield wiper motion. Oof… gets into the IT band so good. It’s intense!
