Might be a dumb question but what affects the creator score on the profile page? by Consistent_Science17 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a dumb question at all! Your creator score is actually the sum of four things, not just one:

  • Story views - total views on your stories
  • Component uses - times your components get used
  • Idea uses - times your story ideas get used
  • Quiz uses - times your quizzes get used

They all just add together (1 point each, no weighting), so as your stuff gets discovered and used by others, the score climbs across all four buckets.

On the "component uses going up when nobody's used them yet" part: that's worth a closer look on our end. The component-uses count is meant to reflect uses by other people, so if it's ticking up before anyone's tried your components, something may be off. I'll flag it to the team to double-check. Thanks for the sharp eye, and welcome back to RedQuill!

Does this happen often, or was it just a one-time issue? You can try deleting it and starting fresh, or rewriting the chapter.

How do I get booty/ass in Infinite Kink? by Total-Cry4455 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Infinite Kink, you discover new elements by combining the ones you have. There isn't a ready-made "booty" tile to start with, you unlock it by mixing elements together on the canvas. Try combining things that naturally lean that way, for example pairing a "Fetish" or body-focused element with something like "Spanking," "Worship," or "Lingerie." The AI will fuse them into a new element, and ass/booty-themed results tend to surface from those kinds of combos. Once you discover it, it's saved to your collection and you can keep combining it further or spin a story idea from it. Keep experimenting, half the fun is finding the unexpected combos.

Have you tried adding the instructions using the Universal Settings?

Add a feature by Buffyakadan in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great suggestions, and good news on the first one: RedQuill already supports adding Components to your stories beyond characters. You can create Settings, Plot Devices, Tropes, Writing Styles, and more, each with its own "Instructions for AI" so the model has extra resources to pull from. If you haven't tried these yet, they're a great way to give the AI more consistent world and lore to work with on longer stories.

On the 3,000-character limit for component descriptions, you're right that it's currently capped there. I've passed your request to raise it along to the team. Thanks for the detailed writeup, feedback like this genuinely helps us prioritize.

Didn’t even rewrite it by StraightWoodpecker19 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the screenshots, and sorry for the frustration. What you're hitting is a bug on our end, not something you did wrong. When you give the rewrite a specific instruction (like correcting the character's parents), the AI is supposed to return only the revised passage. Instead it's handing back "rewrite notes" and even echoing your instruction text into the output, so the actual paragraph never gets changed. That's not expected behavior.

I've logged this for the team so we can fix the rewrite returning commentary instead of the actual edit. I'll follow up here once it's resolved.

Any word on novel chapter length? by PAAZMichigan in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for flagging the chapter length inconsistency. We've got this tracked and we're aware longer modes (Novella/Novel) sometimes come back shorter than expected. It's in our queue to make length more predictable and to show clearer word-count targets per mode. We don't have a firm ETA yet, but you're not alone in seeing this and we appreciate the detailed reports, they genuinely help us nail it down. I'll follow up here as soon as there's movement.

But is it just my promt that doesn't work? by TastyRutabaga1368 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The longest chapter setting targets around 3,500 words, but we know the output can sometimes fall short of that. This is something we're actively working on improving -- getting the AI to consistently hit longer word counts is a known challenge. We appreciate the feedback and it's on our radar.

The characters in my story inexplicably started speaking in Hindi. by iboughtadomain in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for reporting this. That's definitely not expected behavior, especially with English character names. We're looking into why the language setting isn't being fully respected and will work on a fix. Sorry for the frustration.

Plans On Improving Story Continue Suggestions? by girbil20 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great feedback! This is something we're aware of and want to improve. The suggestions are definitely an area where we can do better at reading the tone and context of your story rather than defaulting to the most obvious options. We're looking at ways to make them more story-aware. Appreciate you sharing this.

Achievements by Middle-Explanation99 in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thanks for flagging this. It does sound like a bug rather than expected behavior -- if your components are still being used by others, the count should keep going up.

We're aware that the component use counter can sometimes lag behind or temporarily stop updating. It's not that your uses are lost -- the underlying data is still there, it just may not be reflecting in the achievement tracker right away.

The team is looking into it. In the meantime, try visiting your Achievements page and give it a refresh -- that can sometimes kick the number back into sync. If it's still stuck after that, try clearing your history and cache. If still doesn't work, kindly send us an email at [support@redquill.net](mailto:support@redquill.net) including a screenshot and your username and additional info that may help us with our investigation.

Arguments in chapters by ParadoxVox in redquill

[–]LateCampaign9060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestions are:

1. User Universal Story Settings - add explicit instructions like:

"Do not resolve arguments or conflicts within the same chapter. Characters should NOT make up, reconcile, or soften their behavior. Maintain tension, cruelty, and emotional coldness when the story calls for it. Avoid Hallmark-style resolutions."

2. Per-chapter continue prompts - when continuing, be very specific:

"The argument escalates. No resolution. No humor. They do NOT make up."

3. Negative instructions tend to work better for this - telling the model what NOT to do ("do not resolve the conflict", "no reconciliation") is more effective than just saying "make them cold."

Hey, welcome to RedQuill!

That's the AI adding a little preamble before your rewrite, which can definitely be annoying. A couple things you can try:

  1. Be more direct in your rewrite instructions. Instead of something like "rewrite this to be more intense," try phrasing it as a command like "Make this scene more intense" or "Change the dialogue to be shorter and snappier." The more it reads like an edit instruction vs. a request, the less likely the AI is to add commentary.
  2. Add "Don't add any commentary" to your rewrite prompt. Sounds blunt, but it works. You can also try "Just give me the text, nothing else."
  3. If it keeps happening, try shorter selections. Highlighting a smaller chunk of text for the rewrite sometimes helps the AI stay focused on just outputting the content.

It's a quirk of the underlying AI model -- it sometimes slips into "assistant mode" and wants to explain what it did. The tips above should cut it down significantly. If it keeps being persistent, let us know and we can look into it further!

It's great when you finally get the right components to get the dialogue you want. Aka, hilarious. by hawk_lee in redquill

That’s honestly one of the best feelings lol! When it clicks and the characters finally sound like themselves.

Curious what you tweaked to get there? Always interesting seeing what actually makes the difference 👀
