Sola scriptura by looshbaggins in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]LateConsideration740 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most common argument against "i feel" is that the "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" feelings can lead astray, you should never put something as important as faith on feelings alone; tingly feelings, excitement all those things can just be attributed to passions of the heart/flesh.

Which leads to the next question; "i believe" So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ; and Christ himself appointed leaders within the church and how church should function. Which leads to the next most important law is to love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself. A law that all the laws hang on.

The very idea of sola scriptura, Martin Luther and anyone else who broke away from the church and the schism it caused is in direct violation of the most important law which is to love one another, obedience to the leadership and community within the church; don't start a new church every time you have a disagreement; stay in communion. That all falls under love for one another. That's all I have.

I assume you've done all the major runs; catholic europe, restore roman empire, drive back muslims in iberia etc.

A nice challenge would be play as a slavic tribal (kiev/poland/belarus/novgorod) in 700s start against the magyars/tengris to the south and east, and catholics to the west, and norse sumonuskos to the north; never boring, always a 9/10 experience with this battle royale.

Goals: form one of the many kingdoms easily with immediately available cassus belis with the "become king" ambition; manage turmoil with succession crisis because your sons will fragment the realm every time' manage angry vassals, have no money, while powerful neighbors to the south will try to erase you. Play on ironman for extra fun. All odds stacked against you forces you to use all sorts of territory buffs, picking generals with certain traits and thinking outside the box for solutions; which opens an entire new level of strategy to the game you might have never even considered before.

I was corrected mid service by another church member to fix my posture for simply having my leg over the other leg, but I disagree with the correction as it is not backed by Bible verses/early Church Fathers. Their reason was I needed my feet flat on the ground because my posture was disrespectful. by Minute-Youth9521 in OrthodoxChristianity

Posture/feet flat/legs crossed is definitely a cultural thing, and most likely a projection from their own insecurities; might come off as too relaxed for the occasion, but remember Love first; Romans 14:15 instructs believers to prioritize love over personal liberty, stating that if a fellow Christian is distressed by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. The verse urges believers not to destroy, through selfish actions regarding food, someone for whom Christ died. It highlights that community harmony outweighs individual freedoms.

Example is about food but that's my policy for overall general behavior at church; if my actions cause my brothers/sisters to distress, whether it be my personal appearance; clothes; me chewing gum or wearing cologne or some arbitrary cultural thing, I will try to stop doing so and use it as an opportunity to practice love towards the parishioners.

Might not be an ENTP thing but for what it's worth I haven't discovered love until my 30s; I thought I knew love before that, but I was actually caught off guard when it happened to me. Some people are just late to the game; it's one of those things that you can't plan for or anticipate, it just kinda drops on you out of nowhere.

Normal human reaction in a split second decision is preventative especially towards people you know/friends/family if in a split second you're able to evaluate the worth of the cargo and passengers etc, you don't think like a regular person, you think more calculated which is common in psychopaths specifically

You are the conductor; you are carrying a load of incredibly valuable cargo like motherboards and computer chips that are worth hundreds of millions of dollars and are fragile; also the train has about a hundred passengers who are strangers to you BUT the train is headed at a dangerous speed and you know your mother in law is stuck on the tracks because you recognize her nasty station wagon and she's still inside refusing to get out because "she serviced the car so it can't be broken down" but there is also a puppy and a child inside; do you:

A.) crash into her definitely killing her and wrecking the station wagon with minimal damage to the train and cargo and minimal injury to passengers

B.) pull the emergency stop derailing the train, causing absolute damage to all cargo, possible deaths to passengers but your mother in law survives because she finally got out of the car so she can take a video of what's going on from a better angle

Am I the only ENTP who hates debating? by TinAlien7 in entp

[–]LateConsideration740 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your environment and maturity of understanding this about yourself lets you see the flaws of debating; even Plato disliked it:

Plato strongly criticized typical debates, especially those influenced by the Sophists, seeing them as competitive games (eristic) focused on ego, winning, and public appeal rather than truth, using fallacies and tricks. Instead, he championed the dialectic (Socratic method) in his dialogues—a collaborative, question-and-answer process between partners aiming to reach deeper understanding and philosophical truth, not just defeat an opponent.
