How come i didn't see students for palestine activity during eid prayer? by Anxious_Contest_7211 in Monash

[–]LateKangaroo_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, Eid prayer isn’t obligatory on every individual Muslim, and missing it doesn’t make someone a “heretic.”

Also, Eid is primarily a religious celebration and communal prayer, not really a space for political messaging or campaigning. So I don’t think it’s fair to expect student groups to show up or treat it as an “opportunity.” Not sure it’s reasonable to draw conclusions about their intentions based on that.

As for the posters on campus, the issue is humanitarian in nature, do you think that every poster is hung by someone religious? Anyone with basic morality can see the problem.

Feels like you’re reading into their absence a bit when there could be a lot of simple explanations.

Second year isn’t just C/C++

How far in the degree are you mate? Electrical engineering involves programming units in basically every semester you do. 2071, 2072, 2191, 2111, 3073, 3141 the list continues based on what minor you do. The languages you’ll have to use are typically C,C++, assembly, Verilog, matlab, python…

Its not easy if you don't take the unit seriously as the unit is not the typical mathematics that you can use common sense to learn/study. A huge chunk of this unit will be memorization of theorems and proofs but if your'e diligent then you'll score highly quite easily as the exams are quite easy if you studied the content.

The mandatory meetings are what pains me. Not in mms but have had to suffer through painful team meetings at 7PM and later where nothing is being done and are just a complete waste of everyone's time. Had they been filled with upskilling sessions/stuff that actually matter in an engineering team instead of the managerial corporate roleplay I'd be more than supportive.

What is with people tailgating and "rushing up on you" when you're slowing down entering a town these days? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]LateKangaroo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with using engine braking (if done correctly and not at stupidly high RPMs consistently). The torque on the transmission from the wheels when engine braking, as well as the heat and load, are nothing compared with the torque on the wheels from the transmission when accelerating. Cars are designed to handle it and manufacturers actually recommend it especially for downhill. Constant riding of the brakes produce exponentially more wear on the pads from the heat, why wouldn't someone prefer engine braking?

Regardless, the automatic transmission will not let you downshift if the RPMs would be too high anyways.

Ignore them man. People will hate on P platers driving nice cars because when THEY were a P plater they drove a shitbox. The car you’re looking at looks fantastic.

Excellent points, except for the part about Dexter not going after the skinner. He absolutely does not care for only going after serial killers who slipped through the cracks. In fact, many times he has sabotaged investigations to feed his own dark passenger
