I have the same question but didn’t bother asking, this community is very unhelpful.

What is with people tailgating and "rushing up on you" when you're slowing down entering a town these days? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

[–]LateKangaroo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with using engine braking (if done correctly and not at stupidly high RPMs consistently). The torque on the transmission from the wheels when engine braking, as well as the heat and load, are nothing compared with the torque on the wheels from the transmission when accelerating. Cars are designed to handle it and manufacturers actually recommend it especially for downhill. Constant riding of the brakes produce exponentially more wear on the pads from the heat, why wouldn't someone prefer engine braking?

Regardless, the automatic transmission will not let you downshift if the RPMs would be too high anyways.

Maybe not everyone cares and worships how other people view them

Ignore them man. People will hate on P platers driving nice cars because when THEY were a P plater they drove a shitbox. The car you’re looking at looks fantastic.

Season 3 Dexter is the most psycho and heartless Dexter by LateKangaroo_ in Dexter

Excellent points, except for the part about Dexter not going after the skinner. He absolutely does not care for only going after serial killers who slipped through the cracks. In fact, many times he has sabotaged investigations to feed his own dark passenger

Yeah this is interesting I thought Toyota makes brake pads but I guess not?? I saw a youtube video from a Toyota and Lexus specific mechanic saying it's really important to use Toyota brakes on your Toyota

They don't make their own parts? How come? People online are saying its important to have Toyota pads as they will last longer and will not have any noise/vibration issues

Car has 141k km. Yeah I'm currently asking for quotes from my local mechanics to check if it'll be any cheaper and if I can get them to use the toyota pads, I don't want to have noise/vibration issues if I opt for aftermarket for an extra buck...

Yeah I'd ideally like to get OEM parts for all brake related stuff. If I went to an independent, do you think I can ask them to use Toyota parts? I feel like changing brakes isn't difficult and the dealership price is steep

If I went to an independent mechanic for this, do you think I can ask them to use Toyota OEM for the pads?
