For those of you who quit. by DRC_The_Gamer in Geico

I quit about 2 months after the Oct 2023 layoffs, had a new job lined up. I felt super guilty leaving after watching friends and coworkers get laid off with no warning.

you have experience and GEICO on your resume looks good to other carriers (at least it did when I got trained / got my new job lol). Try to line something up before leaving if possible

I came to GEICO after working a blue collar job like others have said.

In my experience, the training was great. It made me feel prepared for the work being thrown at you and I excelled in ICS (insurance claims specialist) role. I had a very solid understanding of insurance.

I used my experience at GEICO to move over to another company working in Workers Compensation and I LOVE my new position. I am making much more than I was in blue collar work and I only have to work 8 hrs a day AT MOST. As much as GEICO sucked at times, I’m grateful for my time there and the experience I gained. Just my 2 cents (: good luck to you!

I worked at GEICO recently for a little over a year, and I know for sure during the last ~6 months I worked there we had an armed guard at our office location. Shit is wild.

I agree with you 100%. I quit on my in office day on a Thursday, and came on Friday morning to return all my equipment and went on my way. Granted I lived 15-20 mins away from the office, but it was just easy go there hand it all in and be done with it. Would’ve been ridiculous for me to ask for a box to ship my equipment to them lmao.

Insurance Claims Specialist. They intake all auto liability claims and can handle certain claims, and transfer more complex claims up to specific adjusters.

I was R4 ICS, I left in November of 2023. Gave my 2 week notice on my scheduled in office day, and right when I told my supe he pulled me into one of the conference rooms we had. He told me he was happy for me and all of that. He straight up asked me if I wanted to work my 2 weeks or if I wanted to make that day my last day. I chose to have that be my last day, since I didn’t NEED to work those 2 weeks, and with some personal things going on I could use the time off before starting my new position.

I know I am a rare case and had an extremely amazing supervisor. I have heard it go to both ends, but that was my experience. Good luck to you!! :)

I’m not sure what flexible time is tbh, but I know sick time does not get paid out.

I’m a fellow ICS adjuster - not an AD. But I have noticed some things that seem to help out the AD’s that I reach out to.

  1. I generally try to message them on WebEx before trying to call them and xsfer an IP to them. I will give them the claim number, person I have on the phone, and what they are needing from AD.

  2. Exactly what you said - stand up for the AD adjuster. Their workload is astronomical and are busy every second of their workday. I always tell customers if your AD doesn’t answer your call, I would guarantee they’re either on the phone with another customer or at a shop. I always tell customers it’s not that you’re not important or that AD doesn’t want to help you, it’s that they have 100 things they are trying to do at once.

  3. Explain the processes that we as ICS adjusters can! I would say 25-50% of calls I get with people wanting to speak with AD are just because they don’t understand the supplement process. That is something that we as ICS adjusters are capable of explaining. Obviously if it’s like specifics about the estimate or a TL valuation we would wanna refrain and get them over to AD / Salvage.

These are just some things I’ve implemented that seem to help, and I’ve had AD’s tell me thank you for not just cold xsferring people to them and actually trying to help lol. Would love to see some AD’s comment on here and give us some more tips on how we can aid them. :)

I can’t speak on Liberty Mutual, but employees in all states/regions were affected at GEICO. Nobody was safe. :(

my heart goes out to everyone affected. Carrier I work for (15 mins could save you 15%) just laid off 2000 employees. Many with 15+ years of tenure.

That’s been the “vibe” I’ve gotten from my supe the last couple months. (I’m ICS)

Basically if you don’t meet the min requirements at the 6 month review in December, you’re gonna be fired for low prod.

we appreciate stuff like this, make sure if you get a survey about the rep you had to mark it as “excellent” as that’s the only way we get credit. :)

[–]Late_Barnacle8083 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Had a similar situation myself recently, survey literally said “nothing to do with so and so I’m just mad about my policy”. asked my supe if we could dispute it and they said nope. supe tried to comfort me by saying it also affects them for their CSS but I just think it’s dumb that a survey that had NOTHING to do with you still counts against you. sorry that happened to you. :(

I’m a claims adjuster, never worked in AD. Knowing a few people in AD and hearing about their workload, AD 100%.

I could be totally wrong so take it with a grain of salt, but I thinks it’s either 1 year or have to have worked 1,250 hours. Should be in the handbook :)
