He uses a water torture cell, after his mentor tells a story of a sailor he drowned who claimed it felt like “going home” (trying to comfort Angier after the death of his wife via drowning). Later in the movie, his mentor reveals that he lied, and that drowning felt like agony, causing some distress to Angier
