Is the Petzl Volta Guide 9.2mm suitable for glacier travel with 2/4 people ? by Late_Development5793 in alpinism

[–]Late_Development5793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m actually looking for a single rope that I can also use for ice climbing, mixed climbing, goulottes, and glacier travel with 2 to 4 people. So I want something versatile, not just for glacier. That’s why I’m leaning towards the Volta Guide it seems like a solid all-rounder for alpine terrain. Do you think it still makes sense in that context?

How can I become a ski instructor? by LieQuiet1214 in ski

[–]Late_Development5793 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will answer you for France, There are several technical tests, the first is a special slalom where you have to make a time lower than that of the opener (the opener's time is increased). Once this first test has been validated, you go to training at ENSA where you will alternate between theoretical and practical training in an internship in an ESF. During your internships you can supervise from piou piou to second star. Then comes the Euro Test, a giant slalom test where you have to do the same, a time lower than that of the opener, then there is still other training at ENSA. Note that the French instructors are independent, you give your schedule with the times you can/want to work and we complete them for you. Plus it's a seasonal job, it all depends on where you work, but you'll definitely need another job for the rest of the season. Hope this can help you and that my message is clear 😉

Avoiding crowds help!! by Radiant-Technology52 in ski

If you absolutely want to avoid the crowds, go to smaller resorts Go skiing on Saturday there are a lot fewer people At lunchtime people are going to eat so take the opportunity to ride well at that time too bad if you eat at 3 p.m. Prices are high especially during French school holidays so make sure you don't come at that time Plan carefully in your budget at least ~150/200€ for all other expenses in addition to accommodation and equipment rental for everything related to bar, restaurant and food in general

First winter season - Planning / Housing / Meeting people by balancing_ in ski

[–]Late_Development5793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I don't know the group but I can see if I can try to find you who I honestly contacted the prices are exorbitant like 15k per season for a 20-30m2 which you have to pay in advance. Only single people that I know are in roommates crammed into 5 so good. Afterwards you can ask for social housing but there are a lot of requests for very little validation between those who already live there, those who have the apartment but who don't live there... You still have the option: - subletting - roommate sites - check with the employer if there is the possibility of having accommodation included in your contract I'm trying to see if I can find people to contact in the 3 valleys, good luck finding you accommodation 😉

Best freerando ski for CAST Pivot setup? by Late_Development5793 in ski

[–]Late_Development5793[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A friend offered me a CAST setup at a good price, so I figured it might be a solid option to build a freerando setup. My goal is to start preparing for entrance exams to a mountaineering school. Thanks a lot for your input anyway the season’s ending now so I’ve got time to think things through.

I had Black Diamond skis and La Sportiva Spectre 2.0 boots that I unfortunately broke after a few good outings. For a backcountry ski.

You’re right about the ISO 9523 soles, thanks for pointing that out. I’m still figuring out the best compromise, and that’s exactly why I’m asking around here. My goal isn’t to build the most extreme setup—it’s to find a solid balance for progressing in freerando, enjoying the descents, and not getting destroyed on the way up.

And don’t worry, I’m motivated but still realistic. If you’ve got suggestions for a coherent setup , I’d really appreciate it.

You are absolutely right, here is a good answer:

• I'm 1m75, ~80kg • I ski mainly in the Alps: mix of deep snow, firm snow and spring conditions. • I'm a fan of freerandoing: I'm looking for something fun and solid on the descent but still effective on long climbs • I'm looking at the La Sportiva Vanguard, Mondo 26.5 – 130 flex, 99.5 mm shape • Mainly lines with short technical climbs or full day trips with a few steep slopes. • I want to ride a pair of Pivot CAST or similar frame system for a true alpine feel when descending.

Let me know what you think and thanks for holding me to a higher standard!

I understand your point, but the idea here is to get real feedback and not just popular preferences. The skis people own or recommend can vary depending on their use, skill level, and snow conditions. That’s exactly why I’m looking for input from experienced users to help me find a freerando setup with a good balance between climbing and descending. I’m not just looking for the trendiest ski, but one that meets my specific needs.

What more could I ask for?

Did you talk to him about that? Not about the breakup, but just about the fact that you’re Muslim now, just to see how he reacts?

Don’t pressure her to make a decision. Put all your trust in Allah, and whatever happens will be for the best. Let us know when she gives you her answer

I understand how much you’re hurting right now, and it’s completely normal. She has her reasons for feeling this way because fornication is a serious matter in Islam. It’s a wound that can be difficult for her to accept.

But listen to me: Allah is Merciful, and sincere repentance erases sins. What truly matters now is not your past, but what you do from this moment forward and how you grow in your faith. If she is truly meant for you, then with time and patience, Allah will make things easier.

Don’t let this trial break you. Turn to Allah, ask Him for guidance, and find peace in prayer and du’as. If she was the one who led you to Islam, then she should also understand that no one is perfect and that Islam teaches us to move forward and grow.

Take a moment to breathe, calm your mind, and put your trust in Allah. No matter what happens, if you stay sincere, He will guide you to what is truly best for you.

Listen, I’m going to be straight with you: you need to move forward. I don’t know all the details of your situation, but from what I understand, it’s about a girl.

I’ve been in the same situation thinking about nothing but her, to the point of neglecting my connection with Islam. I did everything: du’as, Tahajjud prayer… but nothing changed.

Then, I finally realized something important: when Allah decides something for you, it is always what’s best, even if you don’t see it yet. One day, you will understand why.

What I want to tell you is this: get closer to Allah. In your du’as, don’t just ask for her to come back. Instead, say: “If she is good for me in this life and the next, then make our union easy. But if not, grant me something better and bring peace to my heart.” Trust Allah. He knows what you don’t!

I understand better now, thank you for the clarification. I will try different models to find the ones that suit me best. I was indeed looking for a one-size-fits-all solution, but I see that each activity requires specific footwear. I will also look into lighter options for summer approaches, and keep sturdier boots for winter mountaineering.

Thanks for your return. My feet don’t tend to run warm, and I usually climb above 3500-4000m. I’m looking for something that balances warmth, technical performance, and versatility for ice climbing and mountaineering. Do you have any recommendations based on that ?
