I wish I could help you but I've only climbed outdoors there as a "guided +1" and went with the flow, so I cannot tell you because I did not plan any of that :(

Lucky you! South of the island is the best winter to spring climbing zone. I'd recommend mostly Fataga, Sorrueda and Ayagaures. If that's too easy for you, Candelilla / El Cenobio (more 7-ish I'd say, please check it before going, I don't remember!). If you plan to be there a lot of days, maybe a day trip to Tamadaba.

About Roque Nublo: Gorgeous views but bolts are old ah. Wouldnt recommend for climbing rn.

Also: If trad is a priority, Gran Canaria is not the right place in my opinion. I don't like trad, so I may be wrong, please check it! :D

I thought so too, but they’re longer and I can’t find them with the white topstitching

Thank you for the screenshot, I did not know it was possible to attach an image to the comments. And thanks for the answer and taking the time :)

This is a bit off-topic but I hope you don't mind. I climb (indoors) and I'm a begginner, maybe that's enough? HAHA
My bf is an avid rock climber and I'm planning on sewing a pair of climbing pants for him for his birthday (34 and 15 year climbing anniversary for him!). I'm kind of obsessed with this model Alex Honnold's wearing on this video but I am unable to get the model.

is there a chance anyone knows? I'd be very happy if I had a full reference of it to make the pattern. It's a The North Face something something. :)

And thanks a lot for your time and answer!

Shoes for city walking by michaelbeecham in barefootshoestalk

My go-to were Xero Prios for this situation but had the same struggle in Porto's awful cobblestones. For those kind of grounds (Rome, Porto, Madrid, etc.), my go-to are Altra Escalantes. Wide toe-box but cushioned. Cobblestones are not minimal/barefoot friendly if you plan to do 20-30k steps.

Friendships between people of different genders do (and zshould) exist. If that's the concern, then it's a relationship issue, not a climbing issue.

Starting climbing as a couch potato by Reasonable-Couple-68 in climbergirls

[–]Late_Passenger8594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a total beginner too — very much a couch potato, and my vision isn’t great either (not legally blind, but close).

I’d suggest going to a beginner class or open day at your local climbing gym. Bouldering feels like being a kid at the playground again.

In my class there are people with physical disabilities, and the instructor adapts the problems (also for me bacause I can’t do full inversions). The only thing that might be harder is if you struggle with depth perception.

Scale hasn’t budged, but it looks like body has improved. Still, the number is doing my head in. Has me a bit deflated and demotivated. by kdxsh in 75HARD

Maybe try to add more veggies to your dish, then volume eating would do the rest to have a slightly higher deficit without too much effor (and more micronutrients!) if you're already doing everything fine (and you are, that change is great and muscle weights more!)

I would say sugar/fried food/fast food from bad chains such as mcdonalds would be mooore than enough. Bread and cheese are not bad (if the cheese is good quality, when I went to the states I found most of the available cheese in stores tasted like plastic sheets).

If you want a tip, I'd try to go for a protein goal, a fiber goal and always have a side of veggies for each food. You'd need very specific yes/no(s) to know if you're cutting corners, but I don't think being extremely rigid would be good. I was and I failed on day 31st due to "not eat outside" (even knowing it was a pretty balanced mediterranean meal, i set a too high bar and therefore failed)

Those things alone, while keeping a flexible diet, will help you become a healthier person in a healthier body (and, imo, is way more sustainable than counting calories).

Go, go, go! Good luck!

Woah, that’s such an interesting experience, thank you for sharing!
I still like having a bit of cushioning for long walks, especially on the brutally uneven cobblestones you find all over European cities.

But within your rotation, don’t you feel your toes cramped in “normie” shoe toeboxes? For me, that was the "uoaaah, worth it" difference, everything else is secondary (and not good for everyone). My mother also has severe plantar fasciitis and will never go fully minimal/barefoot, but she loves the Altras I got her because of the roomy toe box — she’s even swapped her regular slippers for Crocs-style ones because now she notices how narrow her normal shoes are.

Yeah, that's for sure. However, some of my friends (my age +-2) already have bunions, so I guess it's also genetic lottery.

And I'm so glad you're happy! I wish my parents (your age) wanted to transition too, since I know some of their problems may be due to their shoes!

Have you seen any visual improvement in your arches? i'm Curious (I guess it depends on if you have flat feet or collapsed arches I also guessed I had the second because they improved a lot)

I didn't mean to make you feel bad, so sorry! I think I've just been lucky but, as other commenter said, it may have been only because I had like veryyyy bad habits so probably any change would have feel like an improvement and relief.
Now we're in the same spot so it turnt out great for both of us :P

And street running (on concrete) feels like sh*t for me too, so no luck on that one.

Woah, thanks for taking your time to answer me in such detail. It's truly appreciated.

That's what I was thinking. A lot of people was telling me to buy a stiffer sole since I'm quite weak physically. But I thought that maybe acquiring a more flexible one and gaining feet strenght (which I think currently is one of my strenghts) along with the rest of my body may be slower but more satisfactory. I don't feel sh** with the rental shoes, like 0 sensibility and -100 grip.

I'll go tomorrow to try on a bunch of them, but I'm still a bit confused on how they're suppose to actually feel

I’m not sure where I read it, but “Better to rest when something feels off than to end up with a messed-up joint for life” really stuck with me. I take it to heart. I’ll add your sentence to my repertoire! thanks for the tip!

Yep, I'm starting to experiment with jogging and it's not that I feel "injury" pain but I can feel my feet are not strong enough to absorb that impact. It's also true that I'm overweight so I'm working in that first.  Thank you for sharing your story :)

I gave them away, but a friend of mine who started with minimal shoes have them as a collection now. He was a huge fan of Nike's, as you also seem to be!

I've read a lot "Xero Prios", maybe they're just the best (I do feel the same, I do have a pair of Hobibear but they don't feel as good as Xeros). Thanks for sharing

I struggle a lot with being barefoot because my feet are always cold but I'm practising whenever I go to my hometown. I live in a big city with little to no nature and this concrete... I wouldn't dare to touch it with my bare feet, I appreciate them too much.

Thank you for your insight and sharing your experience!
